"I don't- I don't understand. How am I..." She wanted to ask how she was still alive but she doubted he knew the answer to that. Her eyes suddenly widened and fear crossed her face as she placed her palms on his chest. "Am I a vampire?" she asked, on the verge of a panic attack.
She absolutely didn't want to become one because she didn't want to have to drink blood to survive and she didn't want to be immortal. She also wanted to have kids.
"No, you're not. You're still human," he replied and relief instantly washed over her face before he guided her to her stool. The relief was replaced with confusion and Lucas knew she was wondering why she was still alive. "Clear your mind. I will figure out what happened but I need you to stop worrying," he said as she sat on the stool and he gripped her chin, making her focus on him alone. "Can you do that for me?"
