That afternoon, after Gabby finished showering, she sat up on the bed. The woman hugged her legs and put her head on her knees. It wasn't long before she heard a knock on her door.
Gabby turned and saw her father come in with a bowl of chicken soup. The man's face was pale, as if her mother had drained his blood. He walked over to Gabby with a smile.
"Kid, let's eat first. You must be hungry," Daniel said, handing over the bowl.
Gabby took the bowl with a sigh. The aroma of the soup calmed Gabby's heart. She took the spoon and slowly devoured the soup.
"Gabby," Daniel stroked Gabby's head. "Don't be mad at your mother, okay? You know your mother often talks with harsh words. But that's because she is only worried about you,"
"After you left earlier, I saw your mother's eyes turn red. And now she still locked herself in the room, wiping her tears," Daniel continued.
