บท 95: Elsbeth Rescued, Onicent Matched
Maiguh walked through the overworld. He had over time gathered a darker and darker presence, as he walked the sky seemed to darken around him. Shadows gathered at his feet. His anger was fuelling him and making him more and more dangerous. He had tried to control it at first, but it grew more and more into a beast, years of resentment bubbled up. Even the childish past events made him angry. How he used to get pushed around, how he'd been tricked. The crown he'd been denied, he could have been Onicent easily. He should have been Onicent, the court should have been his, he at least should have had a throne!
He clutched his fists.
"Father...?" Dinetee asked.
"It is alright," he said through his teeth.
He tried again to rein all the anger in. The past was the past after all.
He made it shortly to the palace.
"The child is below the ground. Shall we break through?"
Maiguh shook his head and closed his eyes. He had spent a long time with the Enderman and understood them well. Channeling them to him he did something he'd never tried before, successfully he teleported under the castle and into the stoney room.
It was a pitiful sight inside. There was a small bed in one corner, and a single torch providing warmth. Sitting on the bed the girl had her eyes closed as she shivered. The shivers shook her entire body. She didn't hear Maiguh enter, but once he took a step towards her she looked up. Seeing him she shrank back into the wall.
"Another nightmare," she said weakly. "Have you come to hurt me? I beg of you not to!"
Maiguh's anger softened and slowly his shadows retreated, he fixed her with a gentle expression. She looked even more confused and retreated further away, a tiny hand held out in front of her.
"I will not hurt you little one," he said slowly. "If you will allow me I need to come closer to you."
She gave a small nod. "I don't understand at all. You are the same yet different than the other. I feel as though I know you from long ago," she said suddenly, "who are you?"
He nodded, "I am Maiguh, god of the End."
"The End?" She asked, it made some sense to her. She was more confused now. "Are you my father then?"
Maiguh shook his head. He decided to spare her the story of the reasons for her kidnapping.
"You've come to save me though?" She asked. She sounded pleading, "you must be a dream of mine then, he said no one was ever coming for me, and yet you look like him!"
"I am real," Maiguh said lightly. He reached out a hand to her. She put her hand on his.
"You are real, and you are not like him at all," she said. "How did you know to find me!"
"Not now," he said, "we must hurry."
She nodded, "hurry then."
He came closer and gently took one of her hands. Together he drew them out of the place. Though teleporting for him was no issue, it seemed to be too much for her to endure. She had fallen against him. He gathered her in his arms. Then he was off with her and his daughters.
"MAIGUH!" A voice roared.
Behind them was an epic sight. Onicent had risen far up into the air.
"RETURN WHAT YOU HAVE STOLEN!" He screamed, with his yell lightning rained down and nearly struck the small group.
Maiguh shook his head, "she does not belong to you! This is between us!"
Onicent was shaking with fury, quite suddenly he dove forward, slicing through the air to attack the group and reclaim his hostage.
Maiguh hastily drew his own blade, forcing Dinetee to take ahold of Elsbeth.
He brought it up to meet Onicent and the clash of the two brothers resinated so loudly that the forest floor was blown apart as if there had been an explosion.
"I WILL KILL YOU!" Screamed Onicent. "I will chop you into a million pieces and bury you. I will blast you apart until no amount of time could ever heal you."
"We both know Onicent that mother chose me!" Maiguh replied angrily. He forced Onicent to the ground. "Don't you remember? I will brand you, I am the curse on you, and you can't stop me! You tried and you failed to stop me!"
Onicent and Maiguh duelled with their swords for another minute, but neither seemed to get an upper hand. Onicent had been lazy as a King and didn't have much more skill then he had anger. Maiguh had skill but Onicent was physically stronger. His calm kept him more cautious then Onicent and finally he got a hit.
Onicent dripped blood from his arm. It was a shallow enough wound. With his eyes literally ablaze, "this is not over!" He said angrily.
Elsbeth was stirring feebly.
Maiguh wanted to keep fighting, but he knew he had to protect his family and niece. So drawing on more strength he summoned his own End portal.
Maiguh gave Onicent a smile.
It rose from the ground and Maiguh, Dinetee, Endra and Elsbeth disappeared into it.
Onicent was left standing in the ruins, his clothing smoking, he gave one last terrible scream that set the very trees on fire.
