"I wronged you. You had to bear the consequences of my actions." Samantha choked on her words and she started tearing up again, only this time in regret. She lowered her head in guilt, unable to meet her man in the eye. She had lost all the confidence she had mustered when she had kissed him. All of a sudden Samantha looked so forlorn and broken that Alastair gave up on asking more about their past.

As soon as he saw the tears in her eyes, the beast in him bellowed at him. It was angry at him for making Samantha cry. It was fighting for dominance, wishing to get out of its leash and comfort the girl in his embrace. He could not bear to see his beloved in sadness, let alone cry in agony and regret.
