Wednesday went just as quickly as Tuesday. I was still struggling to get my numbers down to believable levels by Thursday. I punched the target again, and my strength levels were still above the super human range. I huffed out a breath as if I were out of breath despite the fact that I had hardly done any physical work. It was frustrating on so many levels.
I punched the target again, and my numbers were even higher than they were the last time.
"Dammit!" I punched the target four times at full speed.
The target broke, and a new one formed in it's place.
"What exactly are you trying to do?" Goliath who was still watching from the control panel asked.
"I want to punch the target with an amount of strength that's believable for a normal human being to have," I shoved the new target as I started pacing, "I know I'm not human or normal, but I don't want them to find out that." I stopped, "Because once they do I'm a corpse."
"You're overthinking it," Goliath left his control panel to stride down to the edge of the arena, "Give the target a little love tap."
I lightly punched the target, and the numbers fell right within the range of what I wanted.
"Now all you have to do is make it look like you're trying," Goliath snorted.
I started laughing. I'm such an idiot. I changed what I was trying to do, and after that it was all too easy to get down what I wanted. I kept practicing until I could do it with every single punch. It was almost time for dinner when I was done.
"Thanks for the tip," I thanked Goliath as I left.
I rushed for the cafeteria. Scarfing down as much meat as I could get before running back to the dorm room. I slipped into my room quickly, undressed, and switched back to my real form. Tomorrow was when evaluations would start, and after that there was an even bigger problem.
"No," I snorted, "Don't think about that right now. Focus on getting through the evaluations first."
Savannah, and Ethan were still talking in the common area. I pulled the door open casually poking my head out. They were trying to find a way for me to go unnoticed by the werewolves, but I didn't think there was one. I wasn't human anymore. There was no way they wouldn't notice.
I could instantly tell if I could beat someone or not just by looking at them. It was an instinct, and that instinct was slowly getting stronger with each level. At first I could only tell when I was about to get attacked, but the stronger my instincts got the more I could tell about the world around me. These guys that were coming to the school had probably been born werewolves. They had their whole lives to strengthen their natural instincts, and abilities.
Ethan, and Savannah were still very much human. I didn't have the greatest sense of smell. There was no way for us to counter their superior sense of smell without drawing their attention anyways. Well that is if they have a superior sense of smell. If they don't then we're worrying about nothing.
I had gotten quite good at hiding my mana signature. My camouflage further dampened my mana signature so the only thing they could do to detect me was to smell me. My wings twitched as I lost interest in their conversation. Part of me wanted to check my xp, but at the same time I didn't see much of a point. I leveled up when I leveled up, and checking it all the time wouldn't speed the process up.
I sighed heavily, and decided I was done listening to these two. I closed the door, and fell asleep pretty quickly. I hadn't realized I was even that tired. I woke up earlier than usual the next morning. My heart pounded in my chest.
Hammering against my ribs with each beat. A part of me was panicking about the evaluations. I was a lot stronger than I had been the first time I'd taken this test. I was physically fit even for a human the last time I'd taken the test. My strength had only been climbing ever since.
I desperately needed to keep my numbers fairly low so no one would question it. If they thought I somehow picked up an ability of some sort they'd follow up evaluations with bloodwork. I couldn't let that happen. Obviously my blood tests would come back as abnormal since I wasn't human anymore. Then there was the werewolves.
Wait. I promised myself I wouldn't think about that right now. I wouldn't have time to worry about them if I didn't get through the re-evaluations. I breathed in deep, and exhaled slowly. My heartrate came down slowly.
I'm an angry guy not a panicky guy. Panicking really doesn't suit me all that well. Shaking off the pre-evaluation jitters as I stood.
"The sooner I get this over with the better," I picked through my remaining two sets of clothes for the cleaner one since I'd forgotten to was a set last night, "I really need to order more of these."
I switched forms, and threw on the cleaner set of clothes. Then I pulled up the school store on my phone. Ordering ten sets of school uniforms, and paying for them outright out of my credit reserve. Which was still in the high one hundred forty thousand range.
"Yay I'm rich," I smiled to myself, "Just got to hope no one finds out how I became rich."
Ethan was also already awake. He was in the shower already. Wait. When was the last time I showered? I think I was still human the last time I did anything like that.
Savannah, and Ethan both smelled me, and neither one said anything about me stinking. Did that mean I didn't get dirty the same way humans did? I mean it would make sense since I wasn't human anymore, but it felt like I was cheating. I always needed to shower at least once a week or I started to smell like I was homeless back when I was human. How had I completely missed such a big detail of my life just disappearing? I didn't miss it at all since I couldn't fit in a shower in my real form anyways, but I'd just completely ignored the fact that I didn't have to bath, or brush my teeth anymore.
