บท 20: Bath Time with an Elf
Yuna and Elvin sat down and ate the goblin's feast with no issue. As they ate goblins would come up to Yuna presenting her with offerings or gifts. They were attempting to gain her favor. Finally, after the feast ended Yuna requested that they take them to the bath house. Since she had requested it be used alone with Elvin it would be a good opportunity to strategize their next move. As the girls entered the tiny goblin-built bathhouse, they were actually impressed at what the goblins had accomplished.
The stream that ran through the village was rerouted so that some of the water would enter the bath house. Here the water was running through rocks and sand to filter out most of the impurities. After the water was filtered it was collected inside of a large tub. At the top of the tub was a ramp for excess water to exit back into the stream. "I can't believe goblins built something like this." Yuna said. "I honestly just expected it to be a bucket with some water in it. This is on a whole different level."
"According to the guild goblins are mindless beasts only motivated by their hunger." Elvin said. "That may be true for normal goblins, but I do not believe that holds true for the demonic ones. I can't believe they honestly think you are one of those upper level demons."
"Right?" Yuna said. "Well we can't question it. The fact they do is working in our favor."
"So, what's the plan?" Elvin asked. "Are we still going to exterminate them?"
"Haven't you been listening?" Yuna said. "They are no threat to the humans, they have their own society, and are vastly intelligent. Not to mention they are friendly and courteous."
"Normally heroes just kill them without a second thought." Elvin said. "It is weird to see a different approach."
"What of you?" Yuna asked. "Would you have killed the goblins without a second thought? You don't seem like the type to just go on a killing spree."
"Personally, my magic is more suited to support." Elvin explained. "I would never lead an attack, but I will not deny that I have taken part in some."
Yuna just sat silently contemplating what was just told to her. Ultimately, she decides to change the subject. "Sure, is a nice bath." Yuna said as she sat in the water. Elvin was across from her. "I can just feel the dirt and grim wash away." She said as she closed her eyes and enjoyed the bath.
"Yuna, I have a question." Elvin said. "What are the goblin's aura like?"
Yuna opened one of her purple eyes and looked at Elvin as she answered. "They have a faint purple smoke around them. I do not think they are extraordinarily strong; it is barely there. They are of the void element though. I have a question for you as well." Yuna then opened her other eye and sat up in the tub. "Why is it you are still in your green big girl form? We are in a town; you are not on the grass. Right now, your even inside a building. Yet your aura is just as strong as it is outside."
"It must be the barrier around the city that changes me then." Elvin explained. "Come to think about it, I think I remember the guild master once telling me that the barrier borrows from all the heroes' mana. That is why Marl moved out of the city, he didn't like his mana being used for a barrier."
"Explains why they established such a cheap inn for heroes." Yuna explained.
"You figured out that the rent was low?" Elvin asked. "I can't believe you already figured out the value of currency here."
"Wasn't hard." Yuna said. "I assumed there must have been a reason for it, I just didn't question it so that I could figure it out later. It all makes sense now."
"Back to what we were discussing earlier." Elvin said. "If we are not going to kill the goblins what are we going to do about that inn on the side of the road? If we ignore them, they will just send a quest for the guild and heroes will come destroy this village. I don't foresee them listening to reason either."
"We will hit them back up on our way back to Marl's house, since we pass it along the way." Yuna said. "I will worry about what to do then, it's future Yuna's problem now."
"Future Yuna?" Elvin asked.
"Yeah, anytime I don't want to deal with a problem right away I say it's Yuna's problem." Yuna explained. "I know it's silly, but it makes me feel better. Do not get me wrong I still work on it before the time comes, but I just hope I will be a smarter wiser person by the time I have to make a decision. Therefore, future Yuna."
"That is an interesting outlook." Elvin said. "I think we are clean now; would you like to get out now and find a place to sleep?"
"Don't you just want to soak some more?" Yuna asked. "The water just feels so nice."
"It might be my nature mana but sitting in water too long makes me feel weird." Elvin explained as she got dressed again.
"Fine, I will get out as well." Yuna started to exit the tub and Elvin noticed strange markings on her back. "Yuna! What is on your back?"
"What now?" Yuna asked. "Something is on my back? I don't remember getting any tattoos in my younger days, but I did get blackout drunk a few times so who knows." Yuna shrugged her shoulders. "It's not like I can really see my back. Or have ever had a boyfriend in the past few years to look at it."
"I don't think it is from your world." Elvin explained.
"Well that's good I guess." Yuna said. "Drunken tattoos are usually the worst. Being drunk is kind of the hallmark of making bad decisions. So why do you say you don't think it came from my world?"
"Because it is a runic design and I just don't think you have ink that glows." Elvin said.
"It's glowing?!" Yuna was surprised.
"It goes from black to purple." Elvin said. "It is most likely related to your void mana in some way."
