Bella tried her best to avoid running into Kathleen as much as she could, but her efforts didn't go unnoticed by Kathleen. Something about Bella's avoidance told Kathleen that Bella knew who she was, and she, in turn, also knew who Bella was. So Kathleen decided to wait until later that evening when most of the guests had left, and Dan was outside seeing them off before approaching Bella.
Bella, who was helping the household staff clean up after the guests, was startled when she felt a hand on her shoulder and spun around to see Kathleen standing behind her, "Don't you think you and I have something to say to each other?" Kathleen asked, cocking her head to the side in a manner that said she wanted them to speak in private. Bella's gaze darted around nervously like that of a thief, and she swallowed past the lump which was lodged in her throat before going in the direction Kathleen had signified.
