บท 10: The Hunt Continues...(Volume 01 Chapter 10)
Jake keeps his eyes on for an opportunity to strike the Owlbearbut the owlbear keeps flying away from him. Jake shouts in his mind "What should I do?" and receives voice back "Try binding it with the vines around you"
Jake: Who is this in my head?
Lila: It's me, Lila.
Jake: How?
Lila: I told you we can talk through thoughts because we have made a contracted with each other.
Jake: Thanks, Lila!
Jake uses shadow steps to climbed trees by jumping sideways from tree to tree and reaches close to the Owlbear without him realise that he was going to be assaulted in mid-air.
Jake slashes through his left-wing in mid-air forcing the Owlbear to land on the ground which gives Jake an advantage so to avoid that the Owlbear uses its brain and leans his entire body in a direction to get close to the tree trunk from which he could hang himself and stay on height.
Jake: What the hell! How intelligent is he?
Lila: What happened?
Jake: It caught itself by hanging to a tree know what do I do?
Lila: Try tieing him with vines.
Jake: I cant he is too high up.
Lila: What...WH...ds....fe.....ef..h...beep'
Lila's voice gets cut off in the middle of her talking
Jake: What happened Lila, Hello Lila is everything alright, Lila!
Alice: Lila cannot be reached because the Owlbear is using the skill 'Taunt' disabling all your mana to reach out within a twenty-meter radius as it is taunting you to attack him.
Jake: Oh then it's fine it seems that I alone know.
Alice: So what will you do know master?
Jake: What will I do? huh, I will run!//running like a headless chicken//
Alice: Wow that was not what I thought?
Jake: What do you know you are just a program staying in my head.
Alice: Very well I see that you do not require my aid, so I will switch to sleep mode.//irritated//
Jake: Wait...Wait, Alice!
Beep...Beep
Jake: Now I alone, I have to think of a plan and that too fast.//Speakes to himself//
Owlbear chase Jake, swinging from tree to tree by jumping and clinging on to the trunk with his huge razor-sharp claws Jake looks behind to scout for the Owlbear to maintain his distance but gets scared and increases his pace as every second the owlbear was reducing the distance between them. The closer the Owlbear gets, the more Jake runs fast.
Suddenly the Owlbear starts screaming his lungs out, scaring Jake shitless. Now Jake knows that he cannot take on this bear alone so this in mind he tries to change direction and go back from where he came but the Owlbear was too clever to let him pass.
The Owlbear lifts up a huge rock from the ground as Jake was trying to run out of the jungle and throws it towards Jake, forcing him to doge it as there was no way Jake would survive after getting hit by the bolder.
Jake: Not so smart now, are you.
Jake jumped to the side trying to avoiding colliding with the bolder, but the boulder thrown by the Owlbear was very huge, huge enough to crush an entire two-story building and the impact produced by the bolder when it collided with the ground was so huge and powerful that when Jake jumped to avoid it, he was pushed further.
Jake lies down on the ground bearing from the pain caused due to the huge fall and the owlbear seize the opportunity and keeps on pushing Jake until he was on the verge of know where to run to, Jake was in a tight spot right know as the odds were not in his favour, he was not able to stand due to fatigue and the injury he had received due to the fall.
Jake looks around only to find no ray of hope there was no one around who could help Jake in the dense forest and realising this Jake thinks to himself " Is it the end. is this how it all ends, it wasn't long when I came here though."
Jake remember all those time with Lila and smiles looking toward the stars.
'sweak swaek'// sound of a sharp object cutting through air//
As Jake see no light of hope for him surviving this he sees two arrows bolting towards the owlbear dealing a massive amount of damage to the owlbear, enough to make him go from attacking to offensive moves and even for the owlbear the arrows were a really great surprise for him even though it is a le to dance movements from a mile away but not this one.
Jake finally takes a breath of relief as the owlbear retreats back into the jungle.
Jake: OH...I just thought that was going to be my last day, but thanks to you it isn't.
As jake try's to get up with the help of the tree he was cornered too.
smak' a wooden object hits Jake knocking him unconscious.
Jake: What....
Jake's eyes close as he looks confused at two shadows staring back at him.
