<Team 2 , Sam POV >
"Cafeteria? Maybe we are lucky and find some food here."
"I ain't going to comment on that one."
"Oh, c'mon Sarah, don't be like that, you know that I like to eat good food."
"And MRE or expired food is a delicacy or you? You stupid loaf!"
"Sam, we are ready!"
"Three, two, one, go go go! "
When one fellow soldier opened the door, we saw zombies building a small pile in the middle of the cafeteria and when they heard the door being kicked by us, they immediately got back to life.
"Shit! Two rows formation. It will be bloody as hell."
We quickly got into the formation and fired at the incoming horde. At first, it was easy to kill the zombies, but as the bodies hit the floor, the zombies begin to dodge them as if they are trying to flank us which made me paranoid as hell. Maybe someone or something was controlling them to attack us before it will kill us.
Just as I turned around, I saw a volatile behind us ready to kill us without giving us a chance. Without waiting for him to make a move, I grabbed my knife and pounced into him pinning the volatile into the concrete floor.
My team saw me fighting with the volatile on the ground and tried to help, but before they could do something stupid, I signaled them that it's ok.
While they fought with the zombies inside the cafeteria, I fought the damn volatile and I got to say now that I fight with one, my respect for Eric grew.
As we fought the volatile almost bite my neck if not for my quick reaction which gave me an opening. Seeing that opening I used my knife to pierce the neck of the volatile killing him in one attack.
After I was sure that the volatile was dead, I returned to my team, only to see them waiting for me in a bloody cafeteria.
"You guys are alright?"
"Kind of, this ain't a walk in a park partner. This is a fucking war we are doing right now."
"Indeed, we are fighting a losing war. The human race won't be able to win this war, but damn right we will try to bring as many bastards as we can with us before we die."
"Now, now, enough war speech, we have a mission to complete. By the way, did you guys check what the other team is doing?"
"I tried to check on them, but the radio is dead. We can't get any signal here, our only choice is to complete our objective faster and then check on them."
"Roger that, lead the Sam."
After we left the cafeteria, the next place we check was the storage room which was filled with different things ranging from weapons to food to clothes and fuel and even medicine.
Seeing how full the place was, we decided to move into our next objective and clear the barracks.
Fortunately for us, the barracks were cleared of any zombies, this thing was rather strange, but remembering the horde inside the cafeteria it had some sense.
The power station room was just a big room with generators and batteries that kept the place alive.
After we were one hundred percent sure that there weren't any zombies left we decided to head right towards the control room.
When we got there, we met another horde of zombies that tried to open the door. Following the same strategy as before, we quickly into our formation and opened fire at the zombies. While we were busy killing zombies, Lt. Maxson decided to give us a helping hand and joined the fight, even if their ammo was limited.
With their help, we managed to clear the whole horde in just a couple of minutes rather than more than fifteen minutes.
After we shook hands with the Lieutenant, we decided to head towards the crossroads where, hopefully, team 1 will be waiting for us.
Along the way, we stopped at the storage room where we resupplied ourselves with weapons and ammo before we head out once again.
Ten minutes later we were at the crossroads, but the first team was nowhere to be seen. Without communications down, we couldn't contact Eric's team either which led us to our only choice, sending a team to check on them.
I decide to be the team leader bringing five soldiers from our side while Maxson brought four men from his side.
Along the corridors, we saw the dead bodies of the zombies that the first team killed. As we walked deeper into the Laboratory, we saw more and more zombies which wasn't a good sign.
After we walked for fifteen minutes we finally found the first team, unfortunately, it was too late to save them.
In front of us stood a huge bloody and disfigured zombie that barely could stand. The zombie was trying to get to a body near the wall.
Seeing that the zombie wasn't dead, we decided to end its life and after two full clips, we managed to end him.
When he turned towards the target of the zombie, we were shocked to see Eric barely alive and bleeding from his wound.
I quickly dressed his wound before we brought him out of that place. The people from both groups were shocked to see him in that state, but nobody said anything and five minutes later we were out.
Paul was the first one to come in front of us, and when he saw Eric's condition, he quickly ordered us to move him to one of the cars to bring to the clinic where Gale would treat him.
