Kenny: Eric, thank you for the rescue. What do you intend to do now?
Eric: Well, if guys want to come with me, you are welcome.
Kenny: Will my family be safe?
Eric: Kenny, I can't promise you that they will be one hundred percent safe as no place on this earth is safe anymore.
Kenny: I understand. We will come with you then.
Eric: Glad to hear that. Lee? What do you plan to do now?
Lee: I and Clementine will also come with you guys. Of course, if you want to have us.
Eric: Sure man. Everyone is welcome to come. Well now that all of us are one big group, we will need some vehicles. One Humvee won't be able to take us to Senoia.
Kenny: Senoia? Are we going back to Hershel's farm?
Eric: No, as much as I would like to have a farm like his, we won't go there. I know the old man and he won't like soldiers being around his family. We have a house in Senoia as our temporary base.
Olivia: You have a plan for a base, that's why you said that your current base is temporary.
Eric: We'll talk at an hour base. Now we need to find some vehicles. The horde won't wait and I don't want to lose anyone today.
Four hours later we managed to find a small truck that was still in working condition.
Kenny drove the car in front of the drug store while the rest of us scavenge the place for anything than can be of some use. We find a bunch of medical supplies that would make Gale and Ellen happy. While scavenging inside our safe zone; we also found three backpacks worth of food and water. With the truck filled by the things we found, I decided that our stay in Macon was enough so I recall all of the snipers and prepared to leave the town for good.
Five minutes later we were out of the safe zone. I decided to take in the Humvee the kids and Olivia and her copilot while the rest of the group would take the small truck.
We took the same route we took when we left Senoia, one that was far away from the roadblock.
Andrew's house four hours later
Sonia: Dear, when would the boys come back?
Andrew: No idea. I don't know how hard the rescue mission was or how bad the roads are. We could only hope that they would come back in one piece.
Ellen: C'mon, you know your brother and you should know how much Eric cares for their lives. Have some faith in them.
Andrew: It's not about the faith, I believe that they would come back, but I don't know how many would come back.
Just as he was about to continue, Brian's voice was heard from upstairs.
Brian: They are back.
Hearing the news, all of the people in the living room relaxed.
Ellen: See? I told you.
Andrew: Note for me, don't argue with a woman.
When Eric's team arrived in front of Andrew's house, a few zombies that were near their location heard them and decided to come and greet them. Unfortunately for the zombies, Brian stood in the window frame with a sniper, and one by one he eliminates the zombies.
The soldiers and Lee's group were amazed by the house defense while Eric and Paul looked at the house and were sure that this house would become crowded with so many people.
Paul: We need a better place to call our home.
Eric: I plan to discuss this tonight with all of you.
Paul: You have a place in mind?
Eric: Yes, but it needs some scouting before we bring all of our people there.
Paul: Another mission, boss?
Eric: Another one. This one would be harder than driving a car through a horde of zombies and more dangerous.
After all of us brought the things we scavenged inside the house, we introduced all of the people to each other so we can at least know each other.
The woman decided to create a big family meal for all of us as the dinner time was close.
Andrew and Doug become buddies quickly, as Doug was very creative while Andrew liked to build things.
Carley decided to stay with the kids while the soldiers took care of the watch duty.
Olivia was slowly getting to know all of the people in our group and what their specialty is. Apparently, she thought that knowing what skills we all have would help in the future and I don't have any objections to her decision. Knowing what your people can do may save your life someday.
After we ate dinner, I decided that it was time for us to find a better place to call home. I called all of the people in my group in the living room. The room was pretty big, but with so many people in it, it becomes quickly crowded.
When all of the people sat down, I begin to tell my plan.
Eric: As you can see, this house has become too small for all of us and before any of you think about the worse situation, let me tell you my plan. The world has ended, the zombies aren't the most dangerous enemy you can find. No, the dangerous enemy is still a human. Now that there aren't any laws, people will become crazy and will do anything for a piece of bread or a drop of water. As I said at the beginning, we need a bigger place to call home and I have in mind the place in Georgia, Atlanta Metro System. I presume that at the beginning of the infection, the government shut down all of the public transport vehicles which means that the metro station should be mostly empty, but as a precaution, I will go check the station myself, if any of you want to volunteer and follow, you are welcome.
Andrew: What station do you intend to make ours?
Eric: Hamilton E Holmes aka the Blue line end.
Olivia: I'll come with you.
Lee: Me too.
Paul: Why not?
Soldier: I'll also come, sir.
Eric: Thank you, if we find the place safe and managed to shut down the tunnel to the surface, we could deal with the one that leads to the next station. Tomorrow at the sunrise we will leave. Have a good night.
