บท 18: Ambush

~28 August 2006~

*Serafall Leviathan POV*

I take a deep breath as I feel the warm feeling the city has. Not only does this city give me a warm atmosphere, but it also gives me this calming feeling that makes me more relaxed than before. Totally different feelings I have when I visit Italy. While it gives me a warm feeling, it has a distinct warmth. If being here in Constanta Romania gives me a sense of being hugged by my mother. However, when I'm in Italy, it gives me a feeling of being burned. While it didn't hurt me, it irritated my skin.

I walk toward the hotel where Ajuka rents the room for the young devil chosen for this diplomatic mission. While I don't think young Iolava Amon and Zephyrdor Glasya-Labolas are suitable for this mission, Ajuka trusts his relative Diodora Astaroth for the job. Diodora is known for his silver tongue.

As I arrive in front of the receptionist, I ask about the room Ajuka rent for the team.

My job here is to observe how the young devil persuades the vampire clan to sign an alliance with them. My presence here also gives them a sense of security in case someone decides to attack. While the vampire has the same title as the devil, the children of the night, Sirzechs, thinking that there is some group that will not agree to the alliance between Vampire and Devil races. This particular group makes Sirzech a little bit nervous. If something is happening to one of the people in this group, then the surviving clan of 72 pillars will raise their voice. Sirzechs didn't want that to happen or as he says.

"I don't need those old bastards yelling at me."

And I must agree with him. I don't need those old people yelling at me.

"Ah, I don't know you arrive this early, Lady Leviathan."

I snap from my thoughts when I see Diodora Astaroth after the elevator door is opened. I raised my eyebrow a little as Diodora in front of me is rather pale and by the look of it ready to throw up.

"Ahhh, don't worry about me, Lady Leviathan. We drunk too much alcohol last night."

"Really? Then it must be strong alcohol."

"Yes, and we also consume it in large quantities."

"Really?"

"Yeah, Zephyrdor decide it was a good idea."

I sigh a little bit before walking toward the elevator and saying.

"I will be back in a few hours. Please wake up your friend and get ready for the briefing."

"Of course, Lady Leviathan."

I walk out of the hotel and decide to walk around the city to kill my free time. I can regard this as my short vacation. I decided to fly around the city and look at the Constanta from above. While Romania is beautiful, I still think my family's land is more impressive (In my unbiased opinion) than Romania, but I must say that this city has a unique aura.

While flying around, I see a group of harpy playing around in the forest, and by the look of it, they are rather young. I decided to fly toward their location and greet them slowly. As I appear near them, one of the harpies points her claw at me and speaks to her fellow harpy.

Before they decide to run away, I say.

"Peace. I come here in peace. I don't want to hurt you guys."

The group of harpies becomes silent and looks at each other before one of them walks toward me and says.

"...R-Really?"

"Yeah, I just want to meet the local magical people in this country. I've not yet met anyone magical in nature in this city."

"Really? You have not yet met Madam Charlotte?"

"No, I'm not. Who is she?"

"She is the owner of Snack Bar in the corner of the city."

"Snack bar?"

"En En, Madam Charlotte has her pack that serves any people that come inside the building. Sadly madam Charlotte never let us go inside the building, saying that we are still young. Weird~"

Ah, That kind of snack bar.

"I see. My name is Sera. Can I have your name?"

"Lypha!"

"I see, Can I ask you a favor Lypha?"

"Mu?"

"I have a few hours to spend before I need to get to work. Is there any place I can visit? A place where I can relax."

"Ohhh~ You can visit our home!"

"Really? Where is your home?"

"We are from the Faysummit!"

"I see, can you show me the place?"

"Okay!."

I begin to follow Lypha and her friend to this place called Faysummit. After flying through the forest for at least 15 minutes, Lypha and her friend stop before saying.

"Welcome to Faysummit."

I look where Lypha points her finger and see a thick wall surrounding the city. As I fly closer, I can see there is some sort of barrier in front of me. I decided to conceal my demonic power to the point of Low-Level devil demonic power before walking inside the barrier.

As I come closer, I can see a massive castle surrounded by buildings and farmland. Not only that, but I can also even see wyvern flying around the area without attacking the people in the city, which is something rare to see. As I see the gate to the city, I decide to descend to the ground and walk toward the entrance.

In front of the gate, I see a few people guarding it. As I come closer, I can see that the being in front of me is a werewolf or at least a half-werewolf. Standing near them is a giant black wolf. The guards have their animal partners following them. On top of the wall is another guard watching around and on their shoulder is what looks like an eagle.

"Randy!"

The guard on the left looks at Lypha and smiles at her before messing with her hair.

"It looks like Lypha and the gang are back from their adventure. Is there anything new you will show me?"

"Here! I'm bringing a new friend!"

The guard, Randy, looked at me, still with a smile on his face.

"Hello, Welcome to Faysummit. My name is Randy."

"My name is Sera."

"Welcome, Sera. You can go inside but don't cause any trouble."

"I will not."

I nod at Randy and look at Lypha then say.

"Lypha, can you show me around?"

"Nu'u. I'm still exploring! I promise my mother to find this special flower!"

"I see, that is disappointing. Good luck finding the flower."

"Yes!."

I smile at the little harpy before looking at the city in front of me. It has been a long time since I explored the magical local town in my free time.

"Where should I go first, Hmmm…"

~7 PM~

*Diodora Astaroth POV*

Serafall, I will never acknowledge her as Leviathan, walk to the receptionist then check out from the hotel. She then coats us with an illusion that makes the human ignore us before she creates a magic circle big enough for all of us.

Early this afternoon, Serafall did a briefing saying she only came here to observe our performance in this diplomatic mission. She will not intervene in our mission and only intervene if there is something gone wrong or in case someone attacks us.

A few seconds later, we appear in a thick forest somewhere near Brasov. The Tepes clan did not permit us to teleport inside their castle, so we need to walk to the Tepes castle. We need to walk in this forest for about 30 minutes. I don't know what they try to prove, but I know if you want to create an excellent first impression, you need to show your best to the guests, but the Tepes clan somehow have different ideas. Is this their way saying that they have the advantage in this meeting? Didn't they know that the vampires are a weak faction compared to the devil?

*SRK*

I snap from my thoughts when I hear something coming from the forest. I look at Serafall as she knows about something coming toward their location. I also can see my peers notice something wrong and prepare for battle.

A second later, a horde of undead coming from the forest in a wave.

My lovely servant immediately jumps in front of me and begins to fight the incoming horde of undead. I summon a dozen swords made of demonic power and fire it toward the incoming horde.

On the side, I can see Zephyrdor and Iolava use their magic to kill the undead. While I can kill them quickly, the undead that comes at us becomes more durable and stronger every time I kill them. The first time it dies with a single hit from my blade, it becomes tougher and tougher to kill them quickly. In a few minutes, it becomes harder to kill them with a conjured sword.

"Diodora, watch out!"

Before I could think about what happens, Zephyrdor appears beside me and active his defensive magic to block something that comes from the forest.

*Boom*

I look up and see there are only three more magic circles in front of Zephyrdor.

"Tch, it's more powerful than I thought it would be."

"Thank you."

"No problem."

Serafall waves her hand, and suddenly, a spike of ice appears in the location where my attacker should be. A second later, I see a man appear in front of us. The man has silver-blonde hair with red eyes. He was wearing a red trench coat, leather riding boots, a red fedora on top of his head, and also round glasses.

"My my my, Look what we have here. Didn't you guys know that this place is Tepes clan territory?"

"We know."

"Then you people should go home. We don't accept any guests right now."

"We are here to have a diplomatic meeting with the leader of the Tepes clan."

"I see, I see. However, we, the Tepes clan, did not want any alliance with the other, you see."

"It was not your decision."

"Ahh, too bad. You don't have many choices."

Suddenly there are two people beside him. Both of them are wearing masks to cover their face, but I can see their red eyes and fangs coming from their mouth.

"Now… Let the party… Begin!"
