บท 31: Leaving for business trip

Inside the room, looking at Li Jie who is continuously checking the time and glancing at the door, Joseph, Lu Ting and Gao Lee came closer to him and asked,

"Jie, what are you looking at? Are you worried that sister in law will run away?"

Li Jie casually played with his watch and answered, "nothing, I am just checking whether my watch is working or not".

"jie, let me ask you something and answer me seriously okay?"- asked Lu Ting to which Li Jie nodded his head.

"do you like sister in law?"

Clearing his throat, Li Jie nodded his head slightly.

Looking at Li Jie who is nodding his head, all three of them gasped and covered their mouths with their hands

"what? When? I mean you both have just met right? Are you sure you like her or are you just attracted as she is the only woman you got to get close after so many years?"- asked Lu Ting.

"no, it's just not attraction you know. How do I put it? It's like I can just look at her and forget all the pain I had in the last few years. The way she smiles, she stares at me, she blushes everything is so cute that I just can't help but think of her all day."- explained Li Jie.

Wiping his fake tears, Joseph said "this my friend, is the first step of falling in love. And I am so happy that someone like you an iceberg is soon going to be melted."

"so, did you tell sister in law about how you feel?"- asked Gao Lee

"yes, I did, we had a talk and mutually decided that we are going to give our marriage a chance and let time and fate decide our feelings."- answered Li Jie.

"oh my god, finally the number one bachelor of the country is falling in love. Wait let me rephrase it, the married husband is falling in love with the wife. I am so happy"- jumped Joseph holding his wine glass.

Looking at Joseph in disdain,

"what is there for you to jump? My aunt and uncle are arranging blind dates for Ling. Maybe you should take care of it first. How many years are you going to waste my sister's life? I think it's better if she goes on a blind date and find a person who can marry her as soon as possible."- Gao Lee said taking a sip from his glass.

Just when joseph is going to reply, the girls pushed the door and came in.

when joseph saw Ling all he could see was Ling on a blind date with a guy. That imagination itself is killing him. He could not help but blame himself for taking so much time to propose her.

Looking at joseph, who was staring at her and frowning, ling didn't understand what was going through his mind. But she definitely knows that something is bothering him. Before she had a chance to ask him what happened, Li Jie got up and held xiaoxi's hand and said,

"okay guys, we will make a move now, it's getting late."

"okay bye sister in law, don't forget about the plan this weekend, I will give you a call"- said evelyn who waved her hand and bid them goodbye.

Saying bye to everyone, Li Jie and xiaoxi came out of the room and headed towards their car.

"what took you so long to come back from the restroom?"- asked Li Jie.

"oh, the girls were talking about some random things and we exchanged our numbers."- said xiaoxi.

"so how was it, do you like them?"- Li Jie asked looking at her tiny hands that were enveloped in his hands.

"yeah, they are good. Especially evelyn and ling they are so sweet and Lu ting, you know. He used to be my crush when I first started modelling."- said xiaoxi who didn't observe her husband's face turning gloomy.

"so, you said, Lu Ting used to be your Crush. But then who is your crush now?"- asked Li Jie with a tinge of jealousy.

Looking at Li Jie, xioaxi thought for a while and answered, "I don't have any crushes as of now, I am really busy with my work that I barely have time to go after my crushes."

Li Jie lips curved a bit when he heard that she doesn't have a crush at present.

Reaching the car, he opened the door for her to get in and went to the driver's seat. Buckling his seatbelt, he checked her seatbelt once more she buckled it already, he started driving towards the Li mansion.

It started to rain, just as they reached the mansion. Looking at the mansion, xiaoxi reached to unbuckle her seatbelt when Li Jie caught her hand.

Looking at Li Jie who was nervous about something, she placed her other hand on his hand and asked, "is there anything you want to talk to me?"

Holding her hand in place Li jie intertwined them and looked straight into xiaoxi's eyes and spoke gently,

"xiaoxi, you remember I was telling mom about the business trip that I have to go"

When xiaoxi nodded her head, he held her hands tightly and continued,

"well, I have to leave tomorrow morning for the trip, and I don't know how long the trip is going to last."

Xiaoxi's words stuck in her throat, and she just kept staring at him.

When he didn't get any reply from her, he panicked and said "I didn't know about this, my assistant just told me about this in the morning. I thought of telling you right away but didn't know how you would react. So, I am telling it to you now.

I am sorry xiaoxi, I don't want to leave you like this right after our marriage, but this trip was planned long back and—"

Cutting him off, xiaoxi held his hand and smiled,

"Li Jie you don't have to explain, I can understand. this was planned long back so you don't have to explain."
