บท 96: [Chapter 96] The Competition Pt 4

Suddenly, I hear the old man's voice echo throughout the hall, "Winter has broken the laws of the fights and will be facing the consequences equal to her actions. She shall be fighting all 8 other contestants at the exact same time as punishment."

My smile disappears as I hear him say this and I glance over at Sam as her face turns serious. "What rules did Winter break? Wasn't she about to be attacked by that kid even after the match was finished? Besides, is there any rule prohibiting limb cutting? After all, the majority of the races in here can regrow limbs."

She shakes her head, "No laws or rules were broken, but that kid, that kid was his grandson, and I don't think he liked the fact that Winter beat him up so mercilessly and so quickly."

She immediately adds, "I would call him out for his injustice because it is my daughter but he has no obligation to listen to me."

I sigh as I inwardly complain, knowing I shouldn't try to make a big scene. 'Where ever there are sentient beings, there will be hate and war. Anyway, if she is going to be hurt too severely, I'll save her, I am her boyfriend but she can't live sheltered if she is going up to the surface with me. She can't be incompetent seeing how we might fight beasts plenty times stronger than these douches.'

I glance over to see Danny's face pale, I nudge him slightly, concerned. "Where'd the blood go?" He looks over at me as he stutters while speaking, "Di-did you t-teach her how to do that?"

I nod with a small smirk, "She is stronger than you would think, especially so being a werewolf. She just didn't use it in the right places before, if at all, that's it."

He quickly looks back at the now shocked Winter, "But I don't think she can take on 8 of them at the same time." I think for a moment and have an idea, I open up my wristband and the cube shows up along with everything else, I then scroll down to the announcement button and I begin to type something in. As I go to press send, I suddenly stop, as a clever smile forms on my face and I immediately close the wristband after deleting it.

I inwardly giggle at the idea I had as a realization hit me. 'Even if she beats all the kids, she still has to fight the District managers and the Alpha managers. So if what I am thinking of is right....then-' I am brought out of my thoughts as I see 8 kids of varying ages and looks hop out of the crowd, all of them decked out in different types of gear, from light, to extremely heavy. I even watch as 1 of the girls turns into a massive fruit bat and 2 of the guys turn into humanoid werewolves before the battle even starts.

I frown at the scene, "Winter is going to have trouble fighting this amount." I suddenly here the crowd roar and see that they on the other hand are ecstatic! It shocks me seeing how everyone knew that she was a runt from the betting poles yet they get excited to watch her get beaten up. Well luckily, Winter has a trump card, and a powerful one at that.

I watch as the old man walks back to the bleachers and jumps into their section, trying to flaunt his strength.

Suddenly, the voice resounds again, "Battle begins in 10 seconds, get ready!" I suddenly see the old man begin to talk with his friends, as if he didn't just try to send a girl to die, 'What the hell is he talking about.'

"This girl, Winter, made my grandson lose face and scream in pain on the field, I had to punish her with something equally demoralizing." The old man says as 3 of the alphas nod, the other 2 shake their heads in disapproval. One of the 2 look over at the old man with dissatisfaction on his face as he looks at the scene, "But did you have to make her fight all 8 at the same time, I don't think even I could of done that." He finishes as his friend nods, "This is true, you should let her choose a face from the crowd to participate with her, maybe she knows a powerful friend that could give her a slight chance, besides, the executives are in the crowd."

He rubs his chin as he thinks for a moment before shaking his head, "This serves as a punishment, not an opportunity. She even made me use some artificial blood so my soon didn't go on a blood frenzy."

"But-" Suddenly, the ringing fills the stadium as Winter launches at the 8 enemies while she continuously bites on her thumb, causing the suit to send ripples of power to the blade, which continues to grow brighter each passing second. As one of the werewolves reaches her, it's massive form covering her with its shadow, she grabs the scythe's shaft as she spins around with the blade and cuts into the werewolf's leg, the air having ripples from the speed. I watch as nothing happens when the blade sinks into the werewolf's flesh, suddenly, I hear a pop as the scythe in my hands shakes and the werewolf is blown away a few feet, his leg still on my blade.

The arena goes silent as they replay the absolutely incredulous scene in their head and the old alpha even stands up, but this strength isn't enough. 'I need to be stronger, I need to be strong enough to follow Kurayami to the surface. And be someone that he doesn't have to protect, one he can rely on in battle.'

I hear the werewolf cry in agony as I see the other 7 slow in their steps. I take my chance and immediately run forward, stunning him with my howl and jumping into the air, the ground making a quiet boom sound as I jump. I raise the scythe above me and heave down, just to watch as the arm and leg of the werewolf are now severed with blood flowing. The werewolf howls in pain as it stares at Winter with fear in its eyes.

I watch as the other werewolf howls at Winter clearly angry at his brother being injured.

As Winter lands, she is stunned solid, unable to move. A vampire immediately rushes forward and slices at Winter's stomach, creating a wave of lines to appear and regather right at where the blade is. The vampires eyes constrict as she feels the blade fly from her hand and onto the floor. She immediately goes to pick it up with her fast reflexes, but fails as she is hit in the side by the back end of the scythe, causing her to tumble to the ground. She tries to get up, but realizes, she can't. She looks up to see Winter has her blade, in her spine.

She immediately pleads, "Please don't do it, I wouldn't be able to walk after this if you remove my lower half. My-my brother needs me because our dad is an alcoholic and my mother doesn't notice because she is rarely home."

Winter sneers as she pulls out her blade and immediately cuts off one of the vampire's arms, causing her to scream in pain. As winter goes to cut off her leg, trying to disable her from the fight, she is suddenly ganged up on by the other 6. She is howled at again and is stunned as blades and claws try to begin their massacre, they begin to constantly slice and hit, making sparks fly as they hit against the suit, after they finish, they are breathing heavily as they look Winter over. Just to see that the scythe is now glowing brighter than the sun.

"Thanks." Winter says as she does a full 360 with her blade, catching the closest 3 as they were too tired to react in time. The blade suddenly gathers energy in the places the people are attached and everyone watches as they get blown across the field, straight into the metallic walls. '3 to go.'

Everyone shouts as Winter throws them into the wall, and I notice that even Sam is shocked beyond her wits. Everyone started cheering for the unexpected white horse of the game after she began to eliminate each one of 8, and now the crowd is going wild. I smile as I see her tired face huffing in the middle of the field, "She definitely will survive on the surface, she can fight even better than me."
