[Adrian's POV]

"Give me the key."

"Mom—!"

"Give. Me. Your. Bike's. Key." Adelia held an expectant palm, punctuating every word with a glare. She didn't even let him explain, and the tone of her voice made Adrian painfully aware that there's no room for negotiation. "You will give me the key, or I will turn your bike into a pile of trash? You choose because trust me, I will do that if that's the last thing I can do to stop you from going to Subic."

"But Mom, I'm just going to the market!" Adrian groaned out and plopped down on the couch. "I'm not going to Subic. I have work later!"

"Then walk or ride a jeep," Adelia said. "The market is just a walking distance from here. Hand me the key."
