Quinn watched in silence from the shadows as Archer held Sun in his arms. He'd seen her leave the infirmary, gone after her to talk to her. He wanted to know more about medicine now his prospects and situation changed so drastically.
But more than that, prepared to admit it to himself at last, he wanted to be near her, with her, to see her smile, hear her laugh, have her liquid brown eyes gaze at him, see her long, shining hair fall through his fingers.
As he stood there and watched another dream turn to dust, Quinn's heart tightened, hardening again. There was nothing for him with the beautiful girl to whom he was so attracted. She made her choice and now he had his own to make.
Steeling himself against her forever, Quinn turned and walked away.
