"That's a good question," Cale said. He wrung his hands, beginning to pace the room. "You remember the day your father called on someone to Erase your memory of his arrest, right?"
"Yes," she said. "But it's a little hazy."
"But it's something," Cale said. "Do you remember the man's name?"
Lysandra watched him and his intense blue eyes. He remembered the man's name. He already knew. He was testing her to see if she knew, too.
"I don't remember his name," Lysandra admitted, "but I remember what he looked like. He was middle aged. And he had this long, dark, almost metallic blue sort of hair."
Cale nodded. "That's Zavier Thwaite."
"Zavier," Lysandra repeated. "The Recoder who only helps rich people?"
"He doesn't only help rich people," Cale amended. "But his clinic is on the rich side of Oblitus, and he charges a lot. That would explain why Simon Ferry wanted him to do Recoding. Simon was the most successful Memory Recoder there ever was."
