บท 283: Library Talks.

I returned the baby to its crib. Its sleeping face was oddly relaxing, ushering me into a rather sanguine state. The wetnurse behind me remained silent, as a good servant would.

"What are the current plans for the child and their mother?" I asked.

"They are to return to whence they came once the mother has sufficiently recovered, as is your policy, my lord." She bowed. I could not see her, but I knew she was doing so anyway.

"Cancel that. These two shall remain here for the foreseeable future. I wish to examine this one more closely." I began walking towards the door.

"If I may, my lord, I have a question." The wetnurse said. She was still bowing when she spoke, but her words echoed throughout the rather barren room.

I stopped in place. "You may speak."

"Why did you name this child; and if I may be permitted another question, what does the name 'Tael' mean?"

I let out a single terse laugh that was quickly stifled within my throat.
