After the festival, we all went our separate ways for the night, and by we, I mean Tael went to his own home while Erana and I went to the guild to get our stuff. Kany went directly to the house to meet up with her family.
As I pushed open the doorway to the guildhall, the empty interior surprised me. I looked over to Erana, but she also seemed a bit uncomfortable.
"Uh… Hello?" I called out. Nobody answered as we walked further in.
Ah jeez. I hope this doesn't turn into some horror movie scenario.
"Kenji-san, perhaps people were out celebrating the festival? I don't think anyone's here right now…" Erana proposed behind me.
"Yeah, you're probably right. If that's the case then we'll just need to make our way up to our rooms and get our stuff…" I muttered as I turned towards the stairs.
We climbed up as the stairs creaked underfoot. The terse pats of the stone steps turned into slow groans as the wooden floorboards creaked underfoot.
It's a nice little relaxation chapter after all that conflict. Savor these moments because we're coming on a shift.
Catch you on the flip side!
