บท 34: A Day in the Mall (Part 2)
Mirko was currently bolting with her fastest speed through the city, jumping from roof to roof on the buildings, even breaking through the sound barrier one or two times. She was worried about the girls, especially Akane. She wouldn't call it suicidal tendencies, but Akane had those, to be more specific self-sacrificial tendencies. If asked a question where she must choose between the life and death of two persons and pressuring her that there is no 'safe both option' she would immediately answer afterwards that she would choose to give up her own life.
For Akane her own life wasn't necessarily something important, it was a means for the purpose. And that didn't change all the years, even with the usage of her mother's quirk couldn't change the fact.
Remembering her girlfriends quirk Mirko had to chuckle, 'ATTENTION!', yes with all letters in big and that exclamation mark, was the name of her quirk. Her quirk gives her the ability to make everyone immediately listen to her if she shows the person both of her eyes. The effect gets stronger when she has important things to announce and it gets weaker the more trivial the thing is. This quirk doesn't allow her to manipulate the minds of persons, not directly anyways. It allows her to force people to listen about her opinion and think about it, before answering.
Fumio rarely uses her quirk, even in court. She only uses it, when something is really necessary, she didn't want to get carried by her quirk through her job, she made it so high up, only based on her own skill, landing every enemy, that thought she is there because of her quirk, in a death trap, they couldn't escape.
Surprisingly she broke this rule for her daughter many times. Akanes' health is something very important for her, so she uses her quirk on her when she needs her attention. Turns out mind quirks didn't work on the girl, so she listened to her mother based on the fact that her quirk is a signal for some more serious discussions.
After about a half a minute Mirko reached her goal, seeing the police already setting up barriers. At least they worked hard for society.
"Is that Mirko?"
"What is the number 5 hero doing her?"
And various other sentences were said after her appearance. She looked around, searching for the highest rank officer in the vicinity.
"Hey! How is the situation!"
"Mirko! What are you doing here? I mean I know that a terrorist attack happened her at the mall, but for Japans number five to appear?"
"Cut the chase, we don't have much time saving the hostages inside of the mall. I am just here, because I happened to be near!"
Turns out the guy was newly promoted and young and inexperienced. But she couldn't care in the moment. She had lives to save.
After a moment her briefing was over and she roughly understood the situation. The entrances were all barricaded, the hostages were all brought to a concert hall, the perpetrators are organized, the leader is unidentified and the people were armed to the teeth and prepared explosives.
The usual stuff. Mirko prepared to enter the mall, by crashing the barrier, but she was almost immediately stopped.
"You can't enter just like that! They are threatening to immediately kill the hostages one by one, if they even see a hero in the immediate vicinity!"
Mirko just scoffed at these words.
"And what do you recommend me to do if I can't enter it? It's obvious that you guys won't be any help and I don't see anyone fitting the job of infiltrating the building!"
"If you need help, I can support you if you need it, Mirko"
She turned around and saw a certain woman, wearing Japanese clothing in all its perfection.
"Look at that, you are back from your mission, number ten hero Lotus."
"Indeed, I came back sooner than expected, the mission was rather easy at the end. We managed to put down a rather big organization that dealt with human trafficking in the slums."
"I don't care why you were away for a couple of months: I ask you what you want to do to infiltrate this mall."
"Easy."
The next moment they looked at her Lotus disappeared, nowhere to be seen.
"I am right under your noses, if you wanted to know where I am."
The turned around to see a cardboard box directly laying under them, they lifted it up, revealing nothing.
"No, I am not a cardboard box. Something like that only works in warehouses. I am just avoiding your line of sight. I am just moving around your blind spots."
"Guys, can you see her from the observation cameras?"
"Yes, we can, but only the ones that observe a bigger area, the ones near you can't quite catch her."
"Well that should work, I am giving you 13 minutes to three the hostages, before I am breaking into the building."
"Well, this should be more than enough, we'll see each other again when this incident is solved. Sister-in-law Rumi."
"Fine call me like that, I don't care anymore."
Etsuko chuckled softly before disappearing again.

Akane started to sweat, she started to sweat intensely, her echolocation might be strong enough, to detect the movement of any sound in the area, but she could really see far away, she needed to send sound out for that, but she couldn't do that in the moment, because one of the goons apparently had a quirk heightening his hearing sense. So, hear the group of friends was, stuck in the ventilation duct. Urging her friends to be silent.
"Dude, I know you have better hearing than us, but nothing happened for like ten minutes, we can't stay wary all the time, you know that, so are you sure we still need to be so guarded."
"I am sure I heard something! But I didn't hear anything for like five minutes, so maybe you are right."
"Could have been a fly for all we know, now let's continue, can't have the boss be angry at us."
"Haha, yes you are right, lets continue the patrol."
The group of friends started to relax a bit after hearing these words, a mistake, Kanna sighed upon relaxing her body a bit.
"Wait, I heard a sound again! This time a bit louder, I think it came from above."
"Above? But there is literally nothing there, but ceiling!"
"I am sure I heard something!"
"Are you sure you aren't just paranoid!"
"Even if it's just that, we have to be careful! You remember what happened to the last guy that was 'sloppy at the job', I sure as hell don't want to go through that. So, you better help me at searching!"
"Ok, ok, geez, calm down buddy, didn't have to go that on the offensive."
And so, the group of grunts started to be extremely wary. The five friends held their breath, it was as good as game over if they got caught now, and so they started to hold their breath in an attempt to not be heard.
They tried for a while, but after a while the situation, the panic got to them all, even Akane. Akane was scared, not because of her own safety, but because of the safety of her friends. She didn't know why, but she had the feeling if things really went down, she could take care of herself, but this changed with the fact, that she now had four other persons to protect.
She turned around and looked at Touko.
"Touko, give me the trigger."
She looked as if she couldn't believe what I just said.
"But wasn't that for emergency cases?"
"I don't care anymore. I just want to get out. Everybody would just think that these terrorists had a misfire, maybe even resulting that heroes have to move out. Let's just use the makeshift bomb."
Touko nodded, she couldn't really blame Akane, they were all on edge. Akane immediately pushed the trigger, resulting in the explosion of the Ahnenerbe and nearby shops. This of course made the grunts walk towards the source of the sound. They were safe for the moment.
"Come on, we don't have much time, let's hurry to the exit."

Mirko was on edge, a fourth of an hour already passed, she didn't have the okay signal from Lotus that her part was done and she just heard an explosion. Right now, at this moment she really wanted to storm inside the mall, but she decided against it for the moment.
That was until she heard a second explosion.
"Ok! I had enough, I am going to storm in and nobody is going to stop me!"
"Wait, Mirko you can't just..."
"Can't just what? I didn't get a signal back from Lotus, and heard to damn explosions! I think I held myself back plenty, I am going in and do what I can best. Using brute force. No number of traps, schemes or plans is going to have an impact on me, as long as I am above in power."
"Geez, calm down, I am barely just seven minutes too late and you are already this on edge?"
"Tch, took you long enough, cat!"
"All fun and games until the cat starts decapitating."
"Wait, you are acting different, did your personality change again? Don't tell me the mutation restrainer got destroyed."
"What can I say? Dodging an explosion is surprisingly hard, now come on in bunny, the hostages are safe and sound."
"You don't have to say that to me twice."
On the given signal Mirko punched the barricade away, rushing in.
"The bunny is making her appearance!"

Damn it! My perfect plan got destroyed! My perfect plan to start filling this entire building with tons of explosives and then use me as an igniter to ignite it got destroyed! I wanted to erase this city and its surrounding from the maps of the world! Showing the world, the true god by sacrificing myself!
I even had the perfect people to get me said explosives, but apparently some of the raw ingredients ignited to soon, giving someone the opportunity to free the hostages! And now japans number five is on my heels, think! Think! There has to be a way to get out of this situation! Think idiot! THINK!
I truly felt despair at this moment, if I think back about the day, I remembered the things I did. My first explosion, it was just a week after my quirk awakened, 'thermal heat' allowed me to raise my body temperature up to several hundreds of degrees, easily hot enough to ignite the ignition cords of fireworks. It was a week right before Silvester and I accidentally used my quirk near the easily explosive things.
That is when I saw my first explosion, and I immediately fell in love at first sight. Over the years I started to explore more and more about my passion. Colorful, bigger, louder, destroying, naturally, human made, quirk and non-quirk explosions. I saw them all, I saw all kinds of explosions. But my parents couldn't accept my passion and they 'tried' to fix it through 'therapy'.
Now look at where I am now, mom and dad, spending my time with my loved one, doing whatever I want, you two, you ALL, deserve to die by her!
Oh, even if they catch me, I still have a trump left. But it looks like I won't need it, I see my ticket for escape right in front of me.

"NICE!"
Two grunts currently looked at their boss who got off of explosions.
"Why are we here again?"
"Just ignore it, that's his fetish and if you say something against it you are going to get violated by a stick of dynamite by him, before ending up as a dirty firework."
The new guy just gulped one big time.
"WHAT DID YOU SAY AGAINST HER!"
"Nothing, we just said she is beautiful!"
"AH! Right, she is indeed beautiful and I want to share her beauty with the entire world!"
The two grunts continued to stand there uncomfortably. They didn't want to be raped by explosives.
