บท 28: Blunder
While the examinee was still bewildered, on the other hand, Zhang Mei Xing was feeling helpless within. If she was to be asked why she resorted to this tactic, blame the 'system'.
It flashed a screen to her which had a blank latter half urging her to project her thoughts into it to input exactly what she planned to do for the last part of the test. She had tried following the instruction and keyed in her basic plans. Yet almost everything was rejected for being 'mild' and the poison thing was already the lightest of all that had been considered passable.
What else could she do but follow that insane plan?
'Crazy? It's not me, alright?! I'm forced!' This was what she thought as she struggled to free herself from the murderous man. Red-faced not from embarrassment, but from the lack of air, she struggled.
If the other person kept on strangling her like this, she might consider going to the Static Word to escape.
Or actually, because the pain scared her, she had unknowingly activated the skill to escape...
'Screw this effin' muffin' sh*t! I'm done with this!' A flash of light momentarily engulfed the place, forcing the two others to close their eyes.
"Y-Yan Chen!?" Xiang Linxin's panicky voice echoed.
There was no response from the man as he was the closest one and the most affected. His hurting eyes made him groan, head instinctively bending sideways.
As for Zhang Mei Xing, she had finally crossed over to the other dimension, panting, a hand clutching her chest, calming her madly racing heart. She was still blankly looking at the floor.
One could say the fault was on the natural instinct of a human. No one wanted to die. Even if she knew she wouldn't die in this fake world, it was in one's nature to fear it and not want to go through the painful experience.
Zhang Mei Xing was quite a special case as she was both new to the job and unwilling to take the job. Naturally, she didn't want to suffocate to 'death'.
'This is definitely called adapting to the situation when one doesn't want to suffer anymore!'
That was all she could say as an excuse to get past the embarrassment when she realized what she had done. That she had just wrecked the last part of the test.

Xiang Linxin and Yan Yongzheng were left there stunned and scared witless, unable to process in their mind that somebody could vanish into thin air just like that.
"… What just happened?" At a loss, the man blurted out. It had almost been a minute since then and Yan Yongzheng's hands were still in the same posture. His voice was very low and weak.
Xiang Linxin who was about to call the police clutched her chest, having difficulty breathing. She was also staring blankly ahead and seemed to have not heard his words.
"T-that's definitely not Shen Li..." Face pale, and body trembling from either poison or shock, the woman shook her head.
"I-it's a devil!" Xiang Linxin stepped back, like only if she distanced herself from where 'Shen Li' used to be would she find comfort and peace of mind.
'Uh-uh, devil?'
Separated by an unseen dimension wall, Zhang Mei Xing finally calmed down. Being freed from the pain and the disgusting feeling of her body not getting any oxygen, her rationality immediately returned. She didn't have to gasp for air as she was but a ghost now in the static world.
Right now though, two patches of red could be seen on the skin of her fair cheeks. The embarrassment was real. When she summoned her user interface, she had to thicken her face to read what was there.
Thankfully, the real owner slash creator of the 'system' seemed to be without an idea of whatever took place here. In front of her was only a floating evaluation sheet asking whether Zhang Mei Xin passed or failed, and why.
The bluish glow on it was still as beautiful as ever, seemed to be leaving blue fairy dust in the air.
But now, Zhang Mei Xing regained her senses and she remembered what Liu Yang said about punishments for wrong judgment. She couldn't deny that her hands stayed still in fright. She was not as courageous as when she lashed out on the system half a month ago.
Wearing Shen Li's appearance, a bitter smile formed on Zhang Mei Xing's lips.
