He tilted his head to the side as though he was weighing what was the right thing to say next to salvage the situation.

"But they were all boys, Father."

He said directly to Mikael.

Mikael on the other hand kept a straight face.

He sported an expression that was devoid of any emotions although deep inside him, he and Santina already got their confirmation from their previous suspicion

Allan had slipped up and given Daniel's game away.

This time, however, Mikael took over the interrogation.

"How did you feel afterward?"

He asked and Allan was quick to avert his gaze for he could not bring himself to lie in front of a man he believed to be a priest.

"I felt sorry."

"But then, you did it again."

Mikael said flatly.

"I could not help it."

Allan answered using the same tone of voice that he used when he said that he had been treated well in jail.

It was so insincere.
