บท 35: Pooch
The reunion was held in a prestigious hotel and the banquet hall was filled with Ye. Shuxin's high school classmate, including Nai Yuge and her minions. Beside her, Lay Zhang was standing, talking, and laughing with their friends. The atmosphere was very relaxed and lively.
"Looks like Ye Shuxin won't be coming." Mo Han, one of Nai Yuge's friends said.
At the mention of her name, a light flashed in Lay Zhang's eyes but it soon disappeared as soon as it came. He was also one of the people who was looking forward to Ye Shuxin's appearance.
He wanted to see her again.
It was Ye Shuxin who broke up with him through text. Through TEXT!
He was so devastated when he read her simple message saying, "I'm breaking up with you."
There was no explanation. It was just those words that were written on that message. What's worse was that, when he tried calling her, she blocked his number!
He was so eager to see her, he even tried looking for her since he didn't want their relationship to end but Ye Shuxin was so cruel to leave him and disappear just like that. He didn't hear any news from her ever since she left their hometown.
He was still hoping, hoping that one day, she'll come back. He also wanted to hear the reason why she broke up with him. He really thought that everything was going well between them back then so where did he go wrong? Why did she break up with him?
The only reason why he was now engaged in Nai Yuge was because of their parents. Their parents were business partners and to strengthen the bond with each other, Nai Yuge and Lay Zhang were engaged to each other. No one knew that except for their families.
"Ha! Do you think that bitch is going to show herself knowing that Nai Yuge is here?" Cai Rouhang snickered.
"That's true. She never showed her face during graduation too."
Mo Han chuckled. "She should never show herself in front of us."
Nai Yuge smirked, "Oh come on, girls. Give her some slack. Our feud is now all in the past. Let's not badmouth a poor girl like her, okay? Who knows what hardships she's facing right now."
"I heard that she's a delayed student. She didn't go to school for one year since she didn't have money." Cai Rouhang said, continuing on talking about her.
"Oh my, really?" Nai Yuge faint surprise.
"Her mother left her. No wonder she didn't attend graduation. I bet she's too ashamed to show her face and introduce her dirty mother to everyone."
"How noisy."
Upon hearing the familiar voice, their group turned to the woman who was walking towards them.
Lay Zhang who saw her approach them froze when he saw the woman who broke his heart in the past. Seeing her now made his heart skip a beat.
Nai Yuge and her friends were surprised when they saw her, after all, they thought that she wasn't going to come.
Ye Shuxin was wearing a navy blue dress made of lace. The neckline exposed her elegant collarbone and the cut of the dress perfectly emphasized her small waistline. Her hair was tied into a high ponytail and she dazzled everyone who saw her.
She waltzed on with an effortless saunter. The clicking of her heels added rhythm to the soft classical music that played onward without pause. Her eyes scanned the room with determination in search of someone. When her eyes met Lay Zhang's, she smiled. So beautiful it was like the stars themselves, decided to rest behind the soft cushion of her red lips.
She looked so beautiful, prettier than the last time he saw her and for some reason, there was something different on her but he couldn't point it out.
Nai Yuge noticed the way Ye Shuxin looked at Lay Zhang which made her dig her nails in her palm, her faces twisted because of the intolerable scene.
Ye Shuxin intentionally came late since... she wanted the spotlight to be hers which she successfully stole with her arrival.
"So you actually came, huh?" Mo Han said, crossing her arms.
Ye Shuxin blinked a lot, she looked around, acting as if she was looking for something, "Is there a pooch barking?" She finally turned her gaze to Mo Han and raised a brow, "Oh my, why is this pooch talking to a human?"
