"W-what?" 

Adam's question had left Blake speechless. He was too baffled to come up with a reply. He found it better to continue staring back at him, giving him a quizzical look. 

"Not what! Who?" Seeing him react like that only confirmed Adam's doubt. He was starting to enjoy seeing him at a loss. 

There was one thing about Blake which he admired. Never was he able to come up with a lie in response to any question, or accusation, especially if it involved him. He knew that he would rather choose to keep his mouth shut instead of spouting a lie.

"What do you mean who?" Blake managed to pull himself out of the shock which his best friend had delivered him with. "I was with the guests. You know how the host has to show some cordiality." If Blake was to look at it another way, he wasn't practically lying. He was indeed with a guest, being cordial.
