The innocent students who supported the Idol have words stuck in their throat in front of these jocks. When confronted, they couldn't do anything. One more thing was, the Idol had only instilled courage within the student masses since they outnumbered the delinquents but the phrase "You are strong when you are many but as one at the same time!" clearly doesn't work when the enemy is as many as well.
Imee wouldn't say she hadn't predicted it so the Idol herself have to stand up now. If she doesn't do anything then her image and reputation will be decreased. Those two factors are very important in leading the masses. In other words, she wouldn't be the Idol or the "Leader" if she couldn't act now.
Harvie felt a palm on his back and when he looked around, he felt chills covered his body as he saw dominance in those eyes.
Imee's demeanor turned domineering and absolute, what she wants, she will get, "Move"
Under this demeanor, even the Alpha had to step back as she stood up as if physically pushing him. Harvie felt an authority was making him do it. As if a child had done wrong and met his angry mother or a criminal caught under judgment.
Renir saw the change in Imee's aura. She was like a completely different person.
"Stop this now." Imee said solidly and coldly as she stared into Harvie's eyes without batting.
"What will I stop?" although pressured, Harvie was still the Alpha and regained his composure. If his Pack saw him trembling and stuttering in front of the Idol just because of a few words, will not they think he became a weakling?
The Alpha and the Idol were like the same, one with the power to amass people under him and the other with the authority figure that lead the masses onto her will. Both were peaks in the hierarchy and watching them stood against one another was a sight to see.
"..." Imee was silent but her authority figure she held accumulated by her background, achievements, status, and mostly, her will attacked Harvie's innate fear of power over him.
'She's the Idol, alright!' Harvie thought and couldn't endure the silence any longer so he spoke once more, relentless, "If you want me to stop, then answer my questions first."
'Answer your question? What question? Why I chose Renir over you?! You want me to answer while Renir is here. Isn't that a confession?! This dumb dog, that's too embarrassing!' Imee was silent and cold on the outside but different in her head.
Harvie was not the only one who was pressured. Imee was steady on her authority figure, however, the one opposite to her was still the Alpha. The man with overconfidence and will not obey simple orders unlike most people do.
Renir stood there, watching this unfold sighed within his head, 'Of course, Imee couldn't say anything. What would be the reason for Imee to choose me over this hunk?' while not showing his frustration.
He never had a friend before. All he did was go to school, study, endure break times, and the bullying. He was never the type to get curious about news, rumors, and stories circulating the school. He had no idea that what was happening in front of him was the standoff of the two people standing on top of the school hierarchy. He would only tell stories to Nurse Mitha but she doesn't told him anything back.
"She had no reason to answer your question, especially when you asked it is such a 'polite' way." he stepped in and surprised those who knew him. Renir stood between the Alpha and the Idol with his arm separating the two.
'Did the Indestructible Wimp just stepped in?!' was the thought of those who saw this and recognized Renir.
Eventually, whispers arose from the crowd that even the jock did not stop as they were invested in listening.
"I thought he was a coward?"
"No, I always see him not fighting back. This is the first."
"Is he really a wimp? Not even courageous people could stand in front of the Alpha like that."
"Maybe he's trying to impress the Idol?"
"I could see that but still..."
While the background began to get noisy, Harvie frowned and glared at Renir, "Who even are you?"
When they heard that, more whispers added in the background.
"So the Alpha doesn't actually know the Indestructible Wimp?"
"I thought he was just dissing Renir earlier."
"Yeah, when he said he didn't know him, I thought he's just saying he's a nobody."
"What will the Alpha react when he learned that in front of him was the Indestructible Wimp?"
The reason that it was such a big deal was that anyone with high status and position when they were obstructed with a person at the bottom, their pride, and position will be challenged.
The Alpha, one of the people in the top, and the Indestructible Wimp, the one on the very bottom. The difference in status will cause a huge effect. If only Renir was not alone...
The Idol's goal was to create a system where the weak can join forces against the strong. However, the one who was seen as the weakest is there, alone in front of one of the strongest. Although his entitlement was for amusement, currently, Renir was getting pitied.
But for him, it was a simple question as he answered, "Renir."
Harvie's eyes widened in surprise and recalled what he learned earlier, "Renir? You mean the one who was so pathetic, he was called the Indestructible Wimp?" he asked as he looked at Travis for confirmation.
And Travis nodded back.
'That really hurts…' Renir thought.
"Hm" Harvie smiled in mockery, "I'm sorry, I thought you are a nobody. Seemed like you're worse..." he paused for a moment before his smile disappeared and his eyes looked down upon Renir, "You have no place here, move."
Anyone would be overwhelmed under the domineering attitude of the Alpha that could rival the Idol. But not Renir though;
"Why would I have no place here when you're the one who just butted in and harasses Imee."
Harvie was a bit confused. Not because what Renir said but because he had replied without fear.
'Isn't he the one called the Indestructible Wimp? Is Travis joking with me?' Harvie pondered but soon said, "So you think you have a place here? Quit joking, didn't you hear me earlier? I said you're worse than nobody. Someone who doesn't deserve to be near the Idol. I'm sure Imee just took pity on you and fed you as if you're a hungry dog on the road." he smiled. Harvie confidently believed what he said was true.
'So Imee was just messing with me. No way would she choose this guy over me. Tsk, tsk, you're so hard to get, Imee, I really like that about you.' he thought.
But as he saw Imee's glare piercing him like daggers, he backed out a bit.
"Renir?" Imee whispered in worry when she saw Renir dropped his head a little.
'What he said might be true. I don't have anything to offer Imee right now. Right now, it looked like she was helping me out of pity. Do I have a place here? This guy clearly likes Imee and got jealous of me. No matter how you see it, it's my fault that Imee was being bothered like this. And most of all, I can't compare this man.' Renir had accepted the truth, however, there was one thing that made him stood his ground;
'But I like Imee too!'
Renir then felt a tug on his shirt and Imee whispered, "Don't get into a fight, okay? He's a black belter in two separate martial arts."
'Black belter, huh? I only see that in news and shows...' Renir put his guard up and kept that in mind.
'So Imee knows I'm a black belter. She must've heard that from her monstrous father.' Harvie thought then said, "Come on, Imee, I wouldn't fight a weakling like that. Actually, it wouldn't be a fight." he laughed, "What could this thin man challenge me for? I heard he always topped the exams in second, but that's it." without warning, Harvie placed his hand on Renir's shoulder.
'??'
Renir didn't dodge since it was slow and casual but now he was in a predicament! He only has confidence in his great reflexes but now that wouldn't work since he was grabbed. And also, his belly was overloaded that every excess movement hurts. That's why his face was bursting into a sweat.
"Imee, I don't need to use any technique to defeat this wimp,"
Those were the words Renir heard before the world abruptly shifted to his side before Thunp!* his body hit the ground!
Imee's cold eyes widened as she saw this, "Renir!" she quickly crouched to help Renir sat up.
"That..." Harvie looked at his hand, "…was easier than I thought." he gazed down upon Renir who was in pain as the bell rang in the background. His smile was mocking Renir's esteem.
Criing!* Criing!*
'Shit, my belly hit the ground!' Renir thought in pain as he grit his teeth, looking at that mockery. Although he was able to endure it, the pain from overeating was so new to him.
"See? He stands no chance against me. In whatever perspectives you may see it." Harvie mocked again, 'Let's not remember the exam ranking.'
Imee was about to speak her mind when Renir beat it to her first, "I can defeat you!" he shouted.
"....." there was a brief silence before the first reaction was heard:
"Huh?" Imee looked at Renir in confusion.
"Huh?" Marvic. Ken and Sian thought they misheard it.
"Huh?" the crowd including the Pack, the students, and the staff tilted their head in response.
"Boy, did you hit your head?" Old Roger shouted through the window with a big smile.
Even Harvie was thrown into confusion, "Didn't you just hear that I am a black belter?"
Renir then stood, "I heard that clear. But I could ask you the same, didn't you hear me say I can defeat you?"
'Renir...' Imee just stood there, helpless. She hadn't done anything to stop Renir from saying that.
"Haha! Really?" Harvie laughed in response, "Looks like you're not as pathetic and cowardly as they say. But..." his eyes then showed scorn, "You're definitely stupid if not out of your mind, and arrogant if not delusional."
Although the students were against the Alpha this time, even they agreed to it.
