บท 11: The Truth

My heart began to beat faster and faster realizing who the murderer was. I didn't know what to do. The trial was done, but do I still have a chance to say who the murderer is?

"That concludes--"

"Wait!" I stood up and interrupted the judge.

"What are you doing?" Mr. Wilson whispered.

I knew I had to do this.

"What is it, Ms. Berger?" The judge asked.

"I know I might get kicked out from this, but please let me have a say in this trial."

"Um...sure?"

"Thank you, judge Turner." I then stood up from my seat and walked to the middle of the room. "The murderer is not Ms. Thornton."

"What are you talking about?" Mr. Wilson scoffed.

"Because I had witnessed the murder of Mr. Don Parker." I swallowed the lump in my throat. "The murderer was not a woman, it was a man. I know this for a fact."

"And how can you prove that?"

"I heard their voices." I began to walk slowly around the room. "One was deep and groggy, while the other was at a higher pitch. I didn't get the first name of the firs murderer, but I did of the second."

The crowd began to murmur.

"There...were two murderers?" Mr. Dyer questioned.

"Yes, there was."

"What was the name of the second murderer?"

I glanced over at Mr. Wilson. One of his blood vessels was popping out. "His name was 'Gully.' Does that ring a bell for you, Mr. Wilson?"

Everyone then focused on Mr. Wilson.

"Mr. Wilson?" The judge formed a shocked expression.

Mr. Wilson began to laugh heartily. "What makes you think I know?"

"You should because you are the one who killed Mr. Parker."

"You think that I was 'Gully?' You need to have hard proof evidence in order to prove that I was the murderer. What can you prove?"

"I'm not saying that you are 'Gully,' but I do have some evidence on the matter. Mr. Bianchi."

Mr. Bianchi then walked up and showed a photo.

"What's this curved line?" The judge asked.

"This is a tattoo on the wrist of Mr. Parker's. He happened to be part of one of the four gangs. The murder should have a similar tattoo or of higher rank on his wrist." I informed the judge.

"Why do you say that? What does the tattoo have anything to do with the murder?"

"It has everything to do with it. Look at the murder weapon that Mr. Wilson brought. What type of gun is it?"

"A silent pistol?"

"Exactly. However, this one is a specific kind. It's a Russian Silent Pistol."

"So what about it?" Mr. Wilson shugged. "It's just a Russian brand."

I then shook my head in disagreement. "Mr. Wilson. There is something special about this pistol. This is the type of pistol only the government are able to get their hands on, or someone who has access to underhanded dealings."

Mr. Wilson then looked at me with a shocked expression.

"You see," I continued, "What would a woman who has nothing to do with gangs or the government do with such a gun?"

"Well, maybe she is a gang member?" Mr. Wilson brought up.

"Already checked that." Mr. Bianchi answered. "We checked her wrists and her neck. Nothing. As clean as a blank slate."

"What if she got rid of the tattoo?!" Mr. Wilson became uneasy.

"She would still have some scars left behind." I answered.

Mr. Wilson then began to bite his lip. I could see blood drip down. He must have been on edge.

"So, Shall we check your wrist Mr. Wilson?" I asked.

"Why do you need to check my wrist?"

"Well, just to make sure my accusation is correct. After all, since this room has a non-UV ray light, we should be able to see your tattoo. That is if you do have a tattoo. If you don't have it on your wrist or neck, then you should be clean of murder." I bluffed.

Mr. Wilson began to sweat. "I...I...I didn't...You...you're the one who's...I..."

"Come on, Mr. Wilson. Feel free to show us." Mr. Bianchi urged him.

"I...Nooooooooooooooooooo!" Mr. Wilson pulled out chunks of his hair from the sides of his head.

"That's enough evidence for me." the judge nodded his head. "The verdict of Mr. Brian Wilson is GUILTY. Take him away."

The policemen began to cuff Mr. Wilson and take him away. However Mr. Wilson kept on struggling. "Nooo! It was Ms. Thornton! Not me!!! There's still 'Gully!' What about him!!"

I then took a sigh of relief. I'm glad it was all over...
