During the starting months of my life, many people came to see me around once a week, the most notable among them were my Grandparents and Frank and Alice. The first time I saw my Grandparents was about two weeks after I was born, it was around noon and I was trying to clear my mind for meditation when the door of my room opened and my parents came with a middle-aged couple beside them. The male was a 40 something year looking old man with a mustache and black eyes while the female was a woman of around mid-30s with dirty blonde hair and warm brown eyes like mine.
" Oh look he is awake this time Ron!" the lady said to the man on her side while coming towards me to take me up from my crib in her hand.
" I can see that Hilda, and it seems he really has Rudeus and your eyes," Ron said while coming beside Hilda and looking at me with joy.
"Hello ruby, it's your grandmother and grandfather. How are you, my grandson!" Hilda said while rocking me in her hands to and fro.
"Mother, he is still too small to understand anything you say..." my mother said standing at the door with my father while watching us happily.
"What do you know, I know my grandson better than you. You can understand grandma can't you... huh... can't you..." Hilda said while cooing me.
I really liked her so I gave her a small teetering laugh and they were really astonished because that was the first time I had laughed.
"Look he is laughing, I knew my grandson was smart!" Hilda said while showing me laughing to the rest of the room.
"Oh, he has a really beautiful smile, he will break many hearts like his grandmother I am telling you," Ron said while laughing.
They played with me for an hour and left after that, before leaving my grandmother gave me a pacifier as a gift. When my father asked what it was she gave him an explanation, from that I could gather that either she was a muggle-born or she could also be a muggle. Hilda was a really beautiful and charismatic woman so it could happen that my grandfather fell in love with her while going out in the muggle world. Anyway, it will remain a mystery until I am old enough to ask the question.
The other regular visitor during my first year was my aunt Alice, she would come at least once or twice a week, sometimes she came alone and sometimes with Frank. There was this one time when Alice came to our home while looking very sad and exhausted.
My mother was changing my clothes in the living room when she took one look at her and asked her while moving towards her.
"Did something happened at the order, Alice?" she asked anxiously.
"Fabian and Gideon died last night in a fight with the death eaters," she said while crying softly. My mother came beside her and comforted her while putting an arm around her.
"The Prewett twins?" my mother asked.
"Yes, Last there was an attack in a number of muggle villages simultaneously and the whole order went to different locations to stop them. They fought really bravely and took down three of the five death eaters attacking them which included Antonin Dolohov who was in Voldemort's inner circle before going down. The help came too late and they were already on their last breath when we arrived" Alice said sobbingly "I just can't imagine not being able to ever hear them trying to make everyone laugh again. Their sister Molly Weasley was inconsolable"
"Is there no one who can stop you-know-who? " my mother asked while looking pensive and afraid.
"He never directly confronts Dumbeldore and mad-eye was the only one who could even hope to stall him for a time and even that was before he lost an eye and a leg. I and Frank could only retreat the two times we met on the battlefield and the same goes for James and Lily" Alice said while looking grim "If in the coming years he is not stopped then it is only a matter of time before he takes over Britain "
My mother conjured a glass of water to give it to her and changed the subject after that.
'So it looks like the war is intensifying and if the potters hadn't stopped Voldemort, the wizarding world would have really fallen' I thought 'In the prophecy, it said that the parents of the child thrice defied Voldemort, so this means there will be one more confrontation between them '
After I was about 6 months I slowly started speaking, at first, I would only say vague words and when I had enough foundation I said my first words 'mama' and that made my mum really happy like she was on cloud nine. After that, I slowly started increasing my vocabulary little by little with words like 'papa', 'teaky' and 'Ali' making everyone really happy.
I also starting crawling after that and took my first steps when I was about 8 months old. I had to stop myself many times from giving away my ability to walk before that because I was already able to walk when I was about 4 months old. It only took me about three weeks to be able to show that I could walk after I started crawling.
Before my first birthday, I was able to speak simple words that were enough to make my need known, like when I wanted water or something. And my parents also started reading wizarding world stories to me from the book "The Tales of Beedle and the Bard". I was able to plant an idea in my parent's mind that I love books by always asking for it so that when the time comes for me to study books they won't be so astonished.
