บท 29: The Pit....
Two week later...
Max was made the assistant camp councillor, it was unanimously agreed by all, more so when the Ares cabin supported him for his strength. He immediately went upon opening the newly built Colosseum he named as 'The War Pit' or simply 'The Pit'.
He had introduced the campers to Nico's powers a week before and didn't get much of a reaction, much to Nico's relief, as a kid from Ares cabin also had a similar ability. With that out of the way Max had set up the first battle in the form of a PvP. Max had given out the rules go everyone explaining the new type of warfare they will be introduced to.
The first event was the same as their previous 'capture the flag', but with a catch. The flags which are captured were to be brought back to their base with their own flag present and defend it for 10 minutes. Both flags were to be present and secured in the camp to start the defence timer.
A team could also win by routing the entire enemy team or if the enemy gives up. The Ares and the Athena cabins teamed up as the 'red team' against the Hermes and Apollo Cabins who were the 'blue team', there were also satyrs joining on both teams on Max's request.
The Arena was designed by the nature spirits to emulate a barren desert, with high sand dunes everywhere that resembled small hills, gust of wind blowing and creating mini sandstorms continuously, making visibility very difficult.
The mock battle started after a 5 minute strategy time for ally cabins to discuss their plan of action. The red team(Athena/Ares) completely abandoned their camp and flag and took their entire force around the farthest edge of the range of the sand dune, skirting the boundary. After 5 minutes of marching they split their forces flanking the blue team's(Hermes/Apollo) camp.
Meanwhile the blue team split their forces into two: one for attack and one for defence. The blue teams attacking force had marched forward and saw an empty camp, they waited for an ambush to happen. They realised the ruse and stormed back to their own camp after grabbing the flag, which triggered a few traps, taking out few guy with diluted sleep powder (courtesy of Hypnos cabin) and sleeping darts.
The red team took this opportunity of the enemy's confusion and charge into their base capturing the flag and taking out everyone in the camp, incurring only minimal losses. Then made a beeline to their camp.
Both teams met and duked it out, the winner obvious, being the red team, who outnumbered and overpowered them.
Max had introduced other modes such as Zone battles, raid defence, 1v1, 2v2, 4v4 squad battles, 1v5 handicap battles, but the most popular was the obstacle course. It was a race where the participants were given only a knife and have to go through many zones like booby traps, mazes, pitfalls, horde of skeletons and many more,to reach the finish.
Chiron himself was quite intrigued and gone attempted it and made it a compulsory course for all campers to take.

4 months later....
Max had trained all the campers that requested help with their training and there were many. So not wasting time he called all the campers one day for a meeting and taught them the basics of the Focus, Intent and Force to everyone.
This resulted in an overall power up to the camp, and the campers. There were many kids who manifested powers that did not appear in canon and many also were claimed during the process unlike the canon, so Max was very pleased with his work.
There were few really cool powers that came up, like Clarise La Rue, Micheal Yew and Lee Fletcher. Clarise had gone with the Intent of emotion and used anger to focus her energy, this resulted in a smaller version of Kratos's Rage, from the game God of War in his previous life.
He helped her name it [War God's Roar], cause every time she went into the rage mode, she would roar at the top of her lungs. The result was her skin turned red, giving her a small strength and speed boost and the red layer layer over her acted as a second armour.
The boys from the Apollo cabin, Micheal Yew and Lee Fletcher had gotten the ability to use sunlight to make real hard-light constructs of arrows and javelins, respectively. They named it [Light Arms].
Even the Stoll brothers, Travis and Conner, both got an ability they dubbed [Blink]. The name said it all, they were able to teleport forward or backward even sideways and diagonally if the focused hard enough, for a short distance, but could not Blink through solid stuff.
With this the Camp was a bit ready for what was to come and would fare way better than the canon. Percy was able to create and control creatures and monsters made of water and to attack and defend. He could also control people's body through their blood {a.n.- essentially blood-bending}, which was 75%made up of water.
Thalia was like a storm. She was itching to use her new found skillset of lightning and thunder attacks. Her favourite was the [Thunder Clap], where she claps her hand very hard and anybody or thing in her calculated radius will have their ear drums torn from the force it generates, rendering them deaf and disoriented.
Max had gone to a zoo and finally drifted with a cheetah, after much persuasion from the readers...i mean- Annabeth. She thought it was the most logical solution and also her constant nagging was unbearable. He got a another flower tattoo on his other heel mirroring the tattoo he got for the lizard drift.
Nico could now make an army of assorted beasts summoned from the underworld, not just bones, but everything. Skin muscles...the lot. He couldn't control them at first had gotten a hang of it with Max and Bianca's help. He could make an army of 700. He could also make an organized skeleton army of 2000, all following his exact order.
Bianca refused to use her power and Max understood her position on her powers and assured it was perfectly alright. Who would want to spawn gems that only gives bad luck to anyone who touches except her snd Nico. Max on the other hand, got an unexpected boost to his power last month when he went out to kill a giant boar that was rampaging nearby.
It happened when he encountered the 25 foot boar in the forest.....
