บท 13: destroying a fortress
getting into position, i began to use something i knew well...
and that was overwhelming power to take down all earth benders that stood in my way....
immersed in crimson flames, i began to take deep and steady breaths....
the ground slowly turning into lava due to the heat it was exuding, and that i began to dance...
twirling around on feet, i did a back kick, sending a massive mave of flames, mixed with crimson lightning, and the flames seemed to roar, as it turned into a large eastern dragon... following my will, it began to swirl and dance through the ranks, taking out multiple earth benders, as they put up a futile resistance, with their earthen walls and domes...
the dragon simply opened its mouth and cruched the walls with a mighty bite... and continued on forward, devouring the earth benders as it went...
while i continued to dance immersed in flames and surrounded by lava... the dragon and flames surrounded me, simply grew with each movement and breath i took...
than... i stopped, and poised myself... as the flames were so high that they pierced into the sky above... i extended a single hand, as the flames began to gather, concentrating into my palm...
[ DOOM BLAST ]
a massive crimson beam, shot forth from my hand, towards the fortress.... streaking over its great walls... and central fortress inside its inner sanctum....
than... BOOOOM!
the flames exploded acorss the walls, with such heat, and power, that the entire fortress was engulfed in flames.... and the wall turned to lava....
the screams of the dying could be heard soon after.... while were turned to charred husks on the spot...
sky seemed to darken due to moisture in the air... and clouds began to form....
as the fire dragon was fighting those earth benders, they began to rout as soon as the saw the power display! while the awe and fear of my men grew towards me.... along with a great sense of pride... and a fierce loyalty started to slowly take place in their heart...
he could have just laid back and let them do the fighting however he wasnt, he was over exerting himself...
this would have taken an astronomical amount of stamana...
and indeed it did...
they saw him heaving, as their moral sawed, and began to fight even harder, to follow his example...
zhou chen... was ready to lay his life on the line, to any who dared to come close to him.... wielding his mighty hammers.... also known as the Hammer of the fire nation
the dragon continued to chase down the enemy, untill it reached a certein distance....
this was when, the dragon suddenly, backed up, and shot into the sky above! turning into crimson lightning.. a small strand of lightning connected the dragon and the its owner, as it shot into the clouds...
the clouds began to rumble greatly, the booms in the sky become greater and greater, with each passing second...
everyone looked up and felt a deep sense of dread... while the legion of soldiers, looked towards their commander... a child, no more than 5 years old, seemingly tamed lightning in such a way... as he held the lightning in his hand.... and than...
a dragon completely made of lightning manifested in the clouds above...
[ Kirrin ]
it danced out from the sky above, and shot down, at a speed that beggered the eyes, and pounced upon the retreating soldiers.... completely decimating them, as a massive shockwave went forthg in all directions, creating a ruined land...
*BOOOOOOOOM!*
my legion, raised their arms and cheered.... at the battle they just won... triumphantly... specially for their display of their commanders prowess, their princes prowess...
it felt godly to them.... to tame the clouds, to tame lightning in such a way, was a mystery to them...
but to Karna it was simply science....
a fortress in flames... an enemy legion is decimated.. while my legion, was barely in the fight for a minute, so casualties were practically non-existant...
i turned to my legion, after gaining my breath,,,, "we march upon the inner realm of the earth kingdom, Tomorrow! we will tear down its foundations and reunite with dragon of the west on the other side as we lay siege to ba sing se!"
they cheered... as their hearts bursted with pride.... along with a quickly taken seed of loyalty in the very bottom of their hearts!
they truly believed they could do it... with this commander, anything was possible! Morale became an all time high....
and than we continued our march towards Ba sing se... ready to crush any and all threats together.
....
Zhou Chen looked upon me, and became worried, he could tell, my gait was unsteady, but my back was ram rod straight...
he whispered towards me...
"My prince, you should rest... let us carry your burden...."
i was still a child after all that was his thoughts... no matter the responsibliities i had to bear.. and the life i took today... was ruthless beyond counting... they numbered at least around 100, not coutning the possible civilians and soldiers inside the fortress.
Zhou Chen, didnt want to see me like this... he didnt want to see me carry this burden in the slightest....
to him, i should be out playing with other children, and instead im taking lives for my country, all for domination.
i looked towards him, as i walked... and spoke towards him, in a soft voice "as their commander, its my will, my job, to go above and beyond what is required of me."
he nodded, while his eye brows scrunched up... unable to accept such an answer from a child. dispite how mature and adult like it was.
my men who were nearby... began to spread what i said amoungst themselves, and their loyalty grew ever more, their moral increased, and above all?
they worked even harder
....
finally it was night fall..
we set up camp, in a large open plane with a river nearby as a water source...
this was when i began to show my men common practices for war time, such as boiling the water they drink, hygiene, and just giving them overall education as many in my legion were 'inexperienced' in such things...
in case you were wondering we brought kodobeasts, from the land of fire, as packmules to cart our rations, tents, and other stuff around...
they were thankful for it, as i was more than willing ot spread my knowledge...
the luxury food meant for myself, had long been spread amonst the legion, and i began to dine on the rations that tasted like beef jerky... kinda like cardboard, just with a meaty taste to it...
seeing this, they were thankful, and their loyalty grew even more.
....
i ran a tight ship, everyones hygiene was to be taken care of, their clothes were to be washed and died in an hour every night...
while their shelter was taken care of by the pack beasts, kodobeasts, with large tents... and bed rolls... while everyone was checked up on by me personally, in case they were injured... as i also had relative medical expertise.... and no doctor was sent with me...
they were grateful...
many of them were middle aged men to young men full of youth....
and so... time past...
