After the second outbreak they got school's back up within 2 months to keep kid busy, but a lot of us didn't stay long mainly because it wasn't the same, lots of us had lost family. Dallas was kept for the rich and G.A.T.D only, what remained of Fort Worth was sectioned into 3 different sections one the restricted resources section which had farms and supply stores, not many people could enter at a given time. Then the civilian section which had homes and schools, which tried bringing back normal life but it wasn't the same. The the slums which had bars and brothels which kept the worst company of the city even Blood Pack members.
Howard Cross tried taking me in but I shot down the offer, he was a good man but he had two daughters he need to take care of, so i could put that strain on him. I went to school for awhile but I had to stop because I needed CP to keep my sister in the hospital, CP was the new currency we used it was Certifications Points basically earned through hard work and good deeds. A friend from school named Scott and I both had decided to live together and work together to make it easier to save CP, we even decided to move to the slums to save CP. We worked the best paying jobs like cleaning debris and helping build shacks in the slums and civilian district's. So we could join G.A.T.D, it would cost us both 10,000 CP to enter G.A.T.D Academy and we had to be 18+ to join, they needed soldiers but they couldn't just give anyone equipment. Scott and I were the same age I was just older by a month, we calculated that we would have the CP to join when we both turned 18 at the rate we worked.

November 5th, 2016. 11:15 AM.
Fort Worth. TX. Slums district.
Today is it the day we would put our applications to join G.A.T.D, Scott had turned 18 and we had the CP. Scott is like a brother to me he had no family left so I was it, and he could handle my emotionless face and cold attitude. If we said we were brothers in public be would get confused, I was a 5'5white guy average build, Scott was a 5'8 African-American guy average build so that's what confused people. We did need blood to call each other brother, we always had each others back in a fight and worked really well with each other, we shared everything with each other.
" Happy birthday brother, you now what this means." I said in a surprisingly thrilled voice. I was never really one to act this way, I had a grudge with G.A.T.D they had bombed my city with my family in it. But I hated how the world had no order in it and G.A.T.D was capable of doing it, and I need resources for my sister and they would help.
"Yeah man It's time to kick some Husk ass." Scott cheered.
We both packed our backpack with some personal belongings and at least three days of clothes, we didn't have much. As we walked out the door saying good bye to the three room shack we lived in for over 3 years. We both hated the slums it was a dark terrible place that G.A.T.D didn't maintain, it was every man for himself. We neared the end of the slum district moving towards the G.A.T.D checkpoint that would take us out of the slums and into the more civilized district, to leave the slums you need ID papers and 20 CP. We didn't have trouble with the checkpoint guards because we new them we past through daily.
"Scott...Patrick you guys heading to work today?" a checkpoint guards named Paul asked
"Not this time Paul, we are on our way to G.A.T.D Administration to join G.A.T.D." Scott said with a cheerful voice.
" That's great you two work horse's will do great, good luck guys." Paul gave us a salute and a smile waving us through.
Paul was a goofy guy with a big heart, he had that attitude that everyone liked real easy person to talk to.
"GOODBYE SLIMY SUMS WE WON'T MISS YOU!" Scott yelled with a happy voice.
"It's not all that bad, there's good people that live in it because they have no choice Scott." I quickly shut him down while giving a cold look.
It was true not all people that lived in the slums were bad just people that couldn't afford the average life.
"I know I'm sorry, I'm just glad to be moving away."
We walked quietly through the civilian zone occasionally greeting people that we had helped. We eventually made it to the G.A.T.D Recruit Administration building to do some paperwork, then we would be put on a bus and taken to a G.A.T.D medical facility to see if we are healthy enough to join, after that we would go to the G.A.T.D Academy to begin training.
"Hello guys good to see you we already have your files ready you look ready to go, just have a few more things to sign and you can be on the next bus out." a woman behind the main desk said with a smile on her face.
We had already done most of the paperwork needed with a recruiter when we were 17. After we signed the remaining form we sat and waited for the bus.
" I'm nervous man this feels like a dream." Scott said in a quiet voice.
"Yeah it does, but it's real and we can do this." I confidently restored his confidence.
We sat in silence for a few minutes till the bus was ready.
*****BUS 4 HEADED FOR G.A.T.D HOSPITAL WILL BE DEPARTING SHORTLY PLEASE START BOARDING.*****
"It's time brother let's go." Scott said in a newly found confident tone.
We talked a little about what to expect in Dallas, we hadn't been to it since the outbreak. As we crossed a checkpoint and into the walls of Dallas the tall buildings towered over the walls, which we did notice before. The bus had stopped a few minutes after entering the walls of Dallas, we stepped off the bus and headed into the hospital for our medical checks. It didn't take long for the checks, Scott and I we're healthy and ready to go.
"You good?" I asked Scott
"Yeah... are you? Scott asked me
I nodded my head and smiled we both walked out with our heads held high ready for our next chapter in our lives.
