10.9% From Earth to Terraria: A Tough Journey / Chapter 10: Catching a Break (And a Lucky Find)

บท 10: Catching a Break (And a Lucky Find)

As our group was escaping from the zombies, we noticed that the zombies were slowly falling behind.

I decided to speak up and say:

"we definitely need to try to keep this pace for a while, since I can see the zombies falling behind us."

Isaac seemed to agree with my thoughts, since he nodded and added his own thoughts:

"I can agree with that, kid. This pace is definitely something we can keep up for the next few hours."

And so we kept that pace for several more hours, only stopping to take a few breaks in between due to some tough terrain.

We never realized how close to death we were until we looked behind us, only to see the horizon lined with undead. Really puts your mortality into perspective when you almost die.

Keeping the pace allowed our small group to outrun the zombies, even if we were completely exhausted throughout the later hours of the night.

During our chase, we had passed through several new places, as well as skirted around several more, such as: another forest, an entire jungle, a snow biome, and another desert (which was more empty than the last).

By the time we had stopped, we had ended up in the middle of a field of sunflowers.

By the time we stopped running it was morning, and we had finally escaped the chase of the horde. We were exhausted after all that traveling, and we needed our well deserved rest.

Isaac immediately sat down and pulled out his tent, preparing to set it down in the middle of the sunflower field so that he could rest.

And with that cue, both Jacob and I started to build yet another house to stay in. We also decided that the house would look more like a house this time, so we decided to put stone walls and a slanted wooden roof. Windows were a necessity as well.

If we are living anywhere, I will not accept anything but a house. If I can't find one, I'll build one.

I also thought back on the last few days and came to a decision based off of the past two days.

"I think that we should just spend the next few days relaxing, since the past two days have held enough trouble to last me a month. Anything more and I think I might go crazy."

"I agree with your idea, since I was never trained for anything as chaotic as this. The order may have given me a large wealth of knowledge, but they never taught us how to fight."

"Kid, I think we all need a little rest right now. We just ran a marathon because of a horde of feral zombies, so the least we deserve is some rest."

I could only let out a tired sigh in response.

Isaac decided to say the most sensible thing I have heard in days moments after our decision:

"I think that we need to sleep, since I know that I really need some sleep right now. I can only assume the same for you two."

I decided that I had the energy to say one more thing:

"I am definitely too tired to argue with that, so all I can say is you're right. And good night."

I was only able to stay conscious long enough to hear Jacob say one thing:

"But it's the morning, not-"

Too bad I never heard the end of that sentence, since I decided to get some rest then and there.

---

I woke up feeling both great and terrible, since on one hand I finally got to sleep, but on the other hand I just ran a mega marathon a few hours ago.

I looked out the window of my home, and saw that it was almost nighttime outside. I must have slept longer than I thought.

I also noticed that both Jacob and Isaac were asleep on the other side of the room. Thinking about sleep, I also had an important thought:

'I really need to get a bed, since I do not need to wake up feeling as bad as how some of the zombies look.'

After that thought, I decided to focus on my home for the near future, since I had already resolved myself to take a break for the next few days. Renovation seems like a worthwhile pastime in my opinion.

With that idea in mind, I decided to do one thing before my 'vacation'.

And that one thing is to get some stress relief.

That night was a very good night for me, though not as much of a good night for the zombies and an occasional eye.

Those eyes still scare me, no matter how much I see them. Anything that floats at night is nightmare fuel, i cannot say otherwise since i have seen nothing less scary.

I walked back into my home a good deal richer than before, very satisfied by my indiscriminate slaughter of the undead.

As I was entering, I decided that I would survey the surrounding area. I definitely needed to know if there were any nearby caves, since I definitely wanted better armor than this boring iron armor.

I decided to postpone the plan, since the massacre that had just occurred tired me out. I headed inside and just laid down in one of our designated sleeping spots, and let sleep claim my mind.

---

I woke up only a few hours later, if the sun's location is anything to go by. I guess I'll put my exploration plan into action then.

I just decided to head a random direction, which happened to be east.

The first thing I noticed was another gigantic tree. It even seemed larger than the last one I saw, but I pinned that on my imagination.

The next thing I saw while wandering the forest was one o the things I was hoping to find, a cave.

I gazed into the mouth of the cave, and the cave gazed back at me.

I was definitely surprised to see something look back at me, so I may or may not have yelped in surprise.

My yelp startled what turned out to be a deep blue bat that happened to be living inside the cave, who proceeded to fly deeper into the cave. I chose not to follow since mining is not my idea of relaxation, therefore not being part of my 'vacation'.

after that experience, I decided to look around the forest a bit more.

After about a minute of walking, I came upon a lone green slime that was just bouncing by. It wasn't the worst thing to see in this forest, so I decided to just kill it for a little bit more gel.

Well, I expected only gel, but also got a weird stick and a banner that sort of resembled a green slime as a part of the deal. I decided to check what the banner was used for first, since it seemed to be a little strange.

[Green Slime Banner

Effect: within 50 feet of this banner, all creatures deal 50% more damage against green slimes, and take 25% less damage as well.]

I thought that the banner might be useful, so I kept it in my inventory.

I decided to check the stick to see if it is some magical staff or something. I was prepared to be just shown that it was just a normal slime covered stick

Only there was one thing wrong with my assumption: It was 100% not normal just based on the fact that it was labeled as a staff.

I looked at the description and was shocked to say the very least.

This staff could very possibly be my best find yet!

these two chapters are where I decided to use a bit of the lore for Terraria, since the Order of the Guides is actually canon.
