บท 3: Act 1-3 Green Hills' Center
Tom, his wife, Sonic and Tails all approach the new family van. Tom opens the front door to get in, but Sonic quickly runs there and sits down. He asks Tails:
Sonic: "Hey Tails, want to see how you drive a car?"
Tom: "Get out of there. I'm not making the same mistake again."
Sonic leaves at ultraspeed, sitting in the backseat alongside Tails and Tom's daughter. Sonic starts kicking his seat in excitement.
Sonic: "I'm so excited! Who do you think is going to show up? You think the Rock will be there?"
Tails: "I'm not sure if you should be so excited for a rock to show up.", Tom laughs.
We see Sonic trying to explain who the Rock is to Tails, however the world is quiet. Tom notices Tails from his mirror. He's shaking nervously.
Tom: "Are you okay, Miles? You seem nervous."
Tails: "Well, I am a bit. It's just, I've never been around so many... humm... beings."
Tom: "Yeah, Sonic can be pretty overwhelming.", Sonic looks annoyed.
Sonic: "What do you mean by that?"
Tom: "I was just saying."
Sonic: "Oh yeah? Well, Sonic says: don't listen to Tom. You'll be alright, Tails. If anything they might be more excited to see you there as well.", Tails begins shaking even more.
The scene cuts to an outdoor shot. We see their car arrive at a park next to a large oval building with a sleazy sign on top of it spelling, "Gotta go fast! Come meet Sonic in person before the government comes to catch him." In front of the building there is a small crowd of people, mostly kids, wearing Sonic costumes, as Crazy Carl starts distributing his Sanic design. He looks better shaved beard and all. He tells people:
Carl: "Give this to Sonic so he can give you an autograph.", One of the kids seems annoyed.
Kid: "We don't want him to write, we want him to run!", Carl tries to calm the people down. We cut back to Tom's van, as they're about to park.
Tom's wife looks at the building, reading the sign. She comments:
Wife: "I feel like you could have worded that better."
Tom: "It was Crazy Carl's idea. I tried to change it but couldn't convince him to do something else. Let's just hope this is a one time thing."
They leave their car, as Sonic and Tails get out quickly.
Tails: "Woahh! It's so big. Let me look at it.", Tails flies up towards the sign, as Tom and his wife observe him.
Wife: "I don't get it. Wouldn't his tails wrap up around one another? How is he flying?"
Tom: "I've learned long ago to stop questioning what they can do. Just go with it.", Tom puts his hand around his mouth. "Hey, Tails, get back down here, before anyone sees you!", Tails tries to quickly get back down, however it is too late as Carl goes wild.
Shaking even more, Tails' anxiety reaches its limit as he faints down. Tom catches him, as Tails shakes his head, commenting:
Tom: "Maybe we shouldn't have brought him here."
Sonic: "Oh come on, he's a fox who can fly. He must be getting used to falling. Right, Tails?"
Tom: "Sonic, he should probably re...", Tails interrupts him.
Tails: "No, he's right. Let's go.", Tails leaves Tom's arms, and goes after Sonic, leaving Tom and his wife behind. The fans show up with Carl at the front. He asks:
Carl: "Are they here? Who was that fox?"
Tom: "What? Fox? I don't know what you're talking about. You must be imagining things."
Carl: "Not again! I'm sure I saw something. You guys saw it too, right?", The group of fans shake their heads in disaggreement. Carl starts rambling to himself as he leaves disappointed.
Tom's wife comments:
Wife: "He's just a nervous kid. Maybe bringing him to a large con wasn't the best idea."
Tom: "How would he grow otherwise? I think Sonic is exactly the type of friend he needs right now.", He looks down, seeing his daughter quickly get in excited. "We should probably go as well."
Sonic and the others enter through the back of the building. They don't want to be seen, when readying the last arrangements. The sonic fan meeting was merely one of the attractions there. There's a couple gift shops, a bouncy castle, which has a red spring designed entrance, a bull riding machine and a couple snack stands, with one being specialized in chili dogs. Sonic heads for the empty blue table, with a big sign with his picture. He imitates the same pose as the sign, asking Tom:
Sonic: "How do I look?"
Tom: "Like an annoying brat.", Sonic grits his teeth as Tom laughs. Tails is in total awe with the place, but something seems odd.
He walks towards Sonic with a question in his mind:
Tails: "Sonic, this is great and all, but shouldn't you be hiding yourself? With all the people going after your power this just doesn't seem safe."
Sonic: "You're asking that now? Come on, Tails, I've defeated the only one on Earth that wanted my power, and there's no way that hunting tribe from my youth will ever find me. I finally found my place to live, and now I'm going to show myself to the world."
Tails: "Well, I found you.", Sonic stops his reasoning for a moment, gaining a worried look.
Sonic: "What do you mean?", Tails scratches his head awkwardly.
Tails: "No, forget what I just said. You're probably right.", Tails turns around with a concerned look.
He wanders around and sits in the table next to Sonic, Tom tells them, as him and his wife get behind the table:
Tom: "It's about to start."
We hear a clearing sound, as the doors automatically unblock. Crazy Carl and the rest of the fans run inside excitedly. A bunch of them run towards Sonic's table, scaring Tails. He runs away at sonic speed and hides behind one of the stands. He runs so fast, the fans barely notice his presence, when they are all running towards Sonic to get their autograph. Sonic looks to the side worried, but Tom's wife tells him to stay put.
Wife: "I'll go see how he's doing."
Tom's wife starts searching around. She looks through the stands, only to then notice a pair of tails perking out from behind the bouncy castle. She goes there, and sees Tails with his back against the wall of the bounce castle. He sees her and asks:
Tails: "I'm not used to this. So many people around me, with no clear way to escape. I've been running my whole life, I can't... I'm too weak... I...", Tom's wife interrupts him.
Wife: "It's fine Miles. It's okay to be scared.", She sits besides him. "When I was a little kid I used to sit down reading a book. Everyone else was playing sports, sliding down ???, chasing the boys, but I was there sitting in my own corner reading. I felt like I was running from them, that I was too weak to play along, while in reality, I was just enjoying myself my own way, and there's no point in running away from that as well. Do you want to meet these people? Do you want to play around with Sonic?"
Tails: "I...I do."
Wife: "Then there's no need to be scared. Come on they're waiting for you.",
Tails gets up with a smile on his face, ready to face the world. Unfortunately, a loud explosion sound is heard. A hole is burned through at the top of the center, and the windows broken. Tom's wife shouts:
Wife: "Miles, get over here.", She looks back only to see that he had already run away.
We cut to Tom and Sonic, who gets on top of the table, staring trouble in its face. The people inside the con run around in a panic. Some try to get out through the front door, however a ladybug shaped robot is blocking the path, alongside some wasp shaped ones. From the hole we see Robotnik emerge. His flight suit is now fixed and mended, and his moustache is trimmed. He's riding on an half-sphere shaped ship. Sonic doesn't seem the least bit shocked, as Robotnik complains:
Robotnik: "You are idiots! All of you! Who in their right mind would celebrate the existence of such an abomination.", He switches his look, to face Sonic. "I never had a birthday party, and yet, here you are for a year, and you already get a whole party. You must be proud of yourself."
Sonic: "I'm impressed, Eggman, you actually made it back, and now you even look like an egg. I have to say, that oversized belly, it suits you. And what happened to your moustache? Did you run out of brushes to clean your ships?"
Robotnik: "Oh no. I've gotten more power than your over sized head could ever process."
Sonic: "What? Did you find another one of my quills? Well, let me take that power back."
Sonic shines in light blue as electricity reverberates around him. Just like he's done before, he tries to short-circuit Robotnik's ship, however, nothing happens. Robotnik laughs.
Robotnik: "Oh, I've come across something much more efficient. I no longer need your pitiful energy."
The shot rotates, showing us a green emerald at the center of his control pad in his ship. Several holes open on the outside of the ship, showing rocket launchers, machine guns, and even a small wrecking ball dwingling about.
Sonic: "Looks like you dropped the ball, Eggman."
Robotnik: "You won't be laughing after this!",
Several rockets shoot out from the ship, aimed at Sonic. The world seems to freeze as Sonic and the heat seeking rockets move at tremendous speed. Sonic is shocked to see they are capable of chasing him at full speed. He runs away, trying to find a path that doesn't put anyone in danger. He jumps on top of one of the stands, kicking one of the rockets against another, two remain. He jumps on top of the bouncy castle, sliding down it. One of the rockets hits the bouncy castle. Once Sonic reaches the end, the bouncy castle bursts at the bottom, pushing him upwards. He makes a spring like sound as he bounces off of it and lands on top of one the rockets with a swing. He rides it towards Robotnik. Sonic jumps out at the last second, and the rocket hits the bottom of the ship, pushing Robotnik back. He tries to recompose himself, cursing himself.
Robotnik: "I suppose they really will be necessary.", He clicks on a button, telling a speaker. "Come in."
Sonic is confused at what he means, until he sees several shadows over him. The echidnas all jumped towards the broken windows, unaffected due to their sturdiness, and standing on top of them while looking down at Sonic.
