บท 269: Who is she?
Xi Hua calmed down upon hearing that. That's right. She was Chen. Their Chen.
Super Chen, as Kio had once called her.
She could and would do anything she wanted.
Seeing that Hua had calmed down, Huo Zenghai said, "Are you calm now? Go change. Then we'll go after her."
On the other hand....
Just as Xi Hua had said, Yu Chen was in no condition to run. But she pushed on and reached Si Xia's bungalow, panting and sweating all over.
She stood in front of the huge front gate and stared at the yard inside, wondering if she should go in or not.
Chen did not know why, but she suddenly didn't feel like going in. She shook her head and muttered, "You're being crazy." And opened the gate and crossed the yard.
Once at the front door, Yu Chen hesitated for some time before she rung the bell. He had to be home right? He would open the door, right?
She was still struggling with these questions when the door opened and Yu Chen got ready for Si Xia's stern face and Oreo's leap into her arms.
But neither came. And what she did see, left Chen in such a state of shock that she stood frozen on the spot, her face as pale as the snow all around.
Yu Chen did not know how long she stood there like a statue. She was pulled into reality by a voice asking her if she wanted something.
Chen blinked as her eyes seemed to adjust to the light and looked around. Her senses started working again.
She could now see the woman standing before her, with dark slender eyes and mid length hair. Her skin was pale and she looked beautiful, really beautiful.
Chen stared at her as her ears began working again. First, she heard Oreo's bark from somewhere inside the bungalow. She wondered why was Oreo not coming out to meet her? Was he eating? No. Oreo would come to her leaving whatever he was doing.
Chen's mind seemed to be working slower than usual as she focused it on the woman in front of her, who seemed to be saying something.
"I'm sorry, are you all right? Is there something I can help you with?" Her voice rung in Chen's ears as she tried to focus, make sense of all that was happening.
Where was Xia? Who was this woman? What was she doing here?
A conclusion that most of the women would have jumped to never even occurred to Chen. In fact, nothing occurred to her.
She frowned, wondering what was happening and trying to make sense of all that was happening.
Finally, Yu Chen could focus enough after a few minutes to ask a few key questions.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?" She asked.
The girl seemed taken aback. She began, "I'm really sorry. I haven't introduced myself. I'm..." Before she could finish, an irritated voice sounded from top of the stairs, "OREO, SHUT UP!!!!!"
Oreo's barks vanished and Chen froze, as if the voice had been directed towards her.
The owner of the voice slowly came into view, descending the stairs.
