บท 218: What? Why is he fighting?
"I'll be ready." Chen said.
"I'll be there in five." Si Xia said and hung up.
Yu Chen got up, freshened up, had a glass of milk and a few biscuits before writing a note and sticking it to the fridge.
"I made carrot soup and egg dumplings for dinner. They're in the fridge." She added a wink and then began to get ready.
Xi Hua had night shift for two weeks starting from yesterday, so she would be back in time for breakfast. Chen thought to herself as she walked out of the apartment and met Xia down on the street.
They ran all the way to his bungalow. Yu Chen was getting better. She only need two rests now compared to the four she used to need a week before. After they were there, Yu Chen was getting ready for the usual morning workout when Si Xia said, "Hey Chen. Let's not do that today."
Yu Chen was surprised, "Why?"
Si Xia: "I have a trainer coming over. He comes here every Friday. So you can just go in and take some rest."
Yu Chen stood on her tip-toes and pecked Xia. She said, "I'll make a huge breakfast for you today."
Si Xia smiled as Yu Chen went in and he started doing some stretches in the yard.
Yu Chen was humming to herself and frying some fish when she heard a loud thud from outside. She was startled and ran to the closest window. Yu Chen was horrified by the scene she saw from there.
Si Xia was fighting a big man with bulging muscles. It looked like a pretty serious fight and Si Xia was being overwhelmed. The thud Chen had heard before was of Xia falling on the ground. And it happened many times. Si Xia fell on the ground after receiving a kick or a punch and stood up everytime to fight again.
Yu Chen immediately ran outside and was already within a five metre radius from the fight when Si Xia suddenly shouted, "Chen, don't come any closer. Stay where you are."
Yu Chen froze on the spot and saw with tears in her eyes as Si Xia was being beaten up.
But everytime she tried to move, Si Xia told her to stay away.
She could not finally take it anymore when Si Xia received a particularly nasty kick in the abdomen and doubled up in pain. The man was aiming a punch for his face when Yu Chen, without thinking what she could do in front of such a burly man, rushed forward and stood in fron of Si Xia, arms outstretched, protecting him. She closed her eyes and expected the punch to hit her stomach, but to Chen's surprise, the punch never came.
She opened her eyes to see that the man's fist had stopped centimetres away from her stomach.
Then she heard Si Xia's voice from behind her, "That's enough for today Bart. We'll take it up next Thursday."
The man named Bart stood upright and said, "Okay boss. Do you need any help getting inside?"
Si Xia had laid down on the grass. He said, "That's all right. I'll manage."
Bart nodded his head and walked away, towards the garage.
