บท 196: Awkward around each other
Chen smiled as she combed her hair and put on a white hairband. She then wore the clips on either side of the hairband and smiled in the mirror.
Yu Chen walked out, and as expected, the living room was empty. She went over to the shoe rack and chose a pair of white heel sandals, and came back to the sofa and sat down.
About half an hour later, Yu Chen heard the doorbell ring, she put down her laptop, peeked and opened the door. Huo Zenghai stood there, in a handsome red shirt.
Yu Chen surveyed him up and down and whistled, "Someone's looking handsome."
Huo Zenghai laughed as he walked in, "Thanks. You look really beautiful too. This kind of look suits you."
Yu Chen: "Then the compliment goes to your girlfriend. She was the one who chose it. Want some to drink?"
Huo Zenghai sat down, "You guys have any juice?"
Yu Chen walked over with a glass of orange juice. Huo Zenghai took the glass and glanced at her open laptop, "So, you're the one who is thinking of competing with us? Maybe I should get some insider information."
Yu Chen laughed as she sat down, "Do you think I'll just let my important codes lie around like this? This code I'm writing for a competition tomorrow."
"Oh...." Huo Zenghai slumped back. He noticed the laptop and asked, "Is this one handmade too?"
Yu Chen face fell as she said, "Yeah."
Huo Zenghai: "But it's not like mine. It seems.....older."
Yu Chen: "Kio gave me this seven years ago. On that night."
Huo Zenghai turned silent upon hearing this. The two sat in silence for some time before he stood up, "Is Hua ready?"
Yu Chen shook her head, "I don't know. Go and have a look."
Huo Zenghai walked into Xi Hua's room as Yu Chen closed her laptop and took it to her bedroom. As she came out, the doorbell rang again.
Yu Chen opened the door and stood transfixed for some time. Si Xia was standing at the door, a basket of fruits in his hand. He was wearing a casual checkered grey, white and black shirt and black pants. His hair was messy and deep black eyes were staring down at Chen. Yu Chen was struck by how much he looked the same as he did back in school. He still had a lean frame and his messy hair added to his charm. But that king-like aura was more prominent than ever.
Si Xia stared at Yu Chen with a dumb expression. She was wearing a white blouse and golden skirt. In that outfit, Yu Chen really looked like an angel who had come down on earth. He gulped as his eyes travelled across her face, those striking green eyes, dark brown small hair clearly exposing her slender neck.
Yu Chen could feel the heat in Si Xia's gaze as her trance broke. She mumbled, "Hi....you....you look nice."
Si Xia also snapped back to reality as he said, "Hey....you look absolutely breathtaking."
"How long are you two going to be so awkward around each other?" Yu Chen turned around upon hearing this to see Xi Hua and Huo Zenghai standing in the living room, smiling.
