บท 98: The party (3)
Si Xia approached the group and said, "Hii."
His eyes never left Yu Chen, and neither did Yu Chen's leave him. But the other three were used to their preoccupations when they were around each other, and they loved to tease them.
Xi Hua suddenly jumped in between them with her face towards Xia and said, "Hey. You look handsome tonight."
Mo Kio also joined in, "Looks like my style really suits you."
Huo Zenghai: "Yeah, you look like an actor. I guess that is why all those girls wanted to grab your attention."
Si Xia looked at them and thought, "What kind of friends did Chen make. They can't even let us have a moment. Well, I guess they are my friends too." He said, "Hey everyone. You all look really nice."
Huo Zenghai turned towards Chen, "Chen, Xia said something. Won't you reply to him?"
Yu Chen looked at them and cursed under her breath. She said, "Hey Xia."
Mo Kio: "Hey Chen, don't you think Xia looks really hot? What do you say?"
Chen could say nothing. She turned around and said, "If you idiots don't stop spouting crap right now, I'm leaving."
Xi Hua and Huo Zenghai grabbed one of her hands each, "Okay okay. We will shut up."
That did the trick. No one teased anyone anymore and the five of them had a pleasant conversation. Though it was pretty clear that most of them wanted one person of the group alone. Suddenly, Mo Kio said, "Hey, why do I feel like the fifth wheel?"
Xi Hua: "What's a fifth wheel?"
Mo Kio: "You know, when you are in the presence to two couples, and you seem to be in a group but you actually feel like you shouldn't be here?"
The other four went very red.
Yu Chen: "....."
Huo Zenghai: "...."
Xi Hua: "Shut up."
Si Xia: "I've git to admit. Only you are able to tease four people at once."
Mo Kio bowed, "That's my talent. Thank you very much." And the group burst out laughing.
They might each have a different story. Might each have a different burden to carry, but at this moment, as they talked and laughed, they were not more than five kids. Five kids who went to high school and were enjoying with their friends.
As they were chatting, the principal went up to the stage and said, "Attention everyone. Could you all please pay attention?"
The hall went silent and everyone turned to the stage. The principal continued, "You all may know why we have organised this party. It is to congratulate four of our very own geniuses. They participated in the 99-open software competition and won the second prize. Please welcome them on stage."
"Xi Hua, Huo Zenghai, Mo Kio and the team leader, Yu Chen. Please come up on the stage, everyone."
The four of them went up to the stage and were congratulated by the principal. After that, he continued, "And on top of that, all four of them have been invited to join a training program at HSC enterprises." Upon hearing this, students in the hall started murmuring.
Though a training program was not much, but HSC was one of the top software companies in China.
