บท 92: Finally alone together
She had walked two steps when Xia held her shoulders and put his finger under her chin. He lightly lifted up her chin so that she was looking up at him. He said, in a voice filled with honey, "It's no trouble at all. I'm willing to walk to London to meet you, your apartment is nothing."
Chen felt like she had reached heaven. She blushed so much that it looked like blood would drop out of her face. She brushed off his hand and rushed ahead. "Come on, catch up." she called out to him.
Si Xia looked at the pretty girl ahead him walking. He saw her short open hair, red sweater and white pants. Then his eyes fell on the boots. He wondered, "It's probably the first time I have seen her wearing anything other than sneakers. They suit her." Then he shook his head and thought, "No. She looks beautiful in anything she wears." Then he looked at her and thought, "She looks so sad. She is happy, but deep inside her it looks like she is hiding something. Something that is crushing her heart." In her white pants and red sweater, she looked like pure white snow over which a drop of blood had fallen. It was pretty, but sad.
He quickly caught up with her, and whispered, while walking beside Chen, "I won't ever abandon you Chen. Just trust me once." Chen gave no response. He wasn't even sure if she heard it. They continued to walk in silence. As they reached her apartment, Chen turned and said, "Bye Xia. See you tomorrow."
Si Xia: "Yeah. See you." Then she went up. Si Xia stood there for some time. He thought, "She is trying to put up a wall around her heart. And I'm not going to break it. I'm going to climb it and meet her." Thinking this he saw the light of her apartment light up. He smiled and whispered, "I love you Chen. Always have, and always will. Goodnight." Then Xia left.
As Chen climbed up the stairs to her apartment, her mind revolved around the words Xia had said, "I won't ever abandon you. Trust me." She thought, "Oh. Why did he have to say that. He may not realise, but these words have tremendous weight for me."
She had begun to believe that everyone deserved a second chance, but was she really able to trust him again. Could she really give herself another chance?
Chen went to her apartment and switched on the lights. She looked down the window and saw Si Xia standing there. He stood for a minute or two, before he turned and left. Chen sat on the floor near the window and mumbled, "I could not help it. I love you Xia. I love you." Then she stayed there for some time on the floor, and she did not know when she fell she fell asleep there in that position.
Yu Chen woke up in the middle of the night and stood up. She rubbed her neck and back, and thought, "Shit. I can't believe I fell asleep. Oh my neck hurts, my back hurts. What's the time? 4:30? Oh, let's go to sleep."
