บท 75: Mr. Darcy?!
Xi Hua looked at the lady and said, "You're kidding!?!?!"
The lady smiled, "No, I am not. I am the CTO of HSC enterprises and would like to offer a training program to the members of Little Yu, if you are interested, of course."
All four of them looked so speechless that she added, handing them her card, "You can think about it and get back to me after a while."
Lu Jim spoke, "And Little Yu gets a 5,000 Yuan cash prize each for being the first runner-up."
After they were given the prize and congratulated, the foreigner judge stood up.
"And the winner of the '99 open software competition', is..... The first everywhere."
A thunderous applause filled the room as the six boys stood up and walked on the stage.
Mo Kio also clapped and said to Chen, "I might not have been able to accept it if it had been someone else. But these guys are really behind talented. Don't you think, Chen? Chen?"
But Yu Chen was looking at the tall boy receiving the trophy. "So that's why he looked so similar." She said and smacked her forehead. Hua, Zenghai and Kio looked at her questioningly.
She pointed at the judge and the tall boy, "See. What do you see?"
Huo Zenghai: "Holy shit! They're almost similar."
Mo Kio: "They're probably brothers."
Xi Hua: "That is why his team was able to win."
Yu Chen: "No. The competition was really fair. Second and third rounds were live. There was no way to tamper the scores."
Mo Kio: "Yeah they are good. But who is this boy."
Xi Hua: "More importantly, who is this judge? He did not introduce himself, did he?"
She asked turning to Huo Zenghai, but he put his finger on his lips and pointed them all towards the direction where the tall boy was standing. It was clear that he had apparently said something because the whole hall was covered with a deadly silence and even the judges looked shocked.
Xi Hua whispered in Zenghai's ear, "What did he say?"
But neither he, nor Chen or Kio had any idea as they had been talking among themselves. Then to their surprise, the boy turned to their team and smiled. He said, "Miss Yu, could you come here please." Yu Chen was shocked and forgot to react. It was not until she was pushed in the back by Xi Hua that she went to where the tall boy was standing.
He looked down at Chen (because he really was too tall) and asked, "So, Miss Yu, what do you say?"
Yu Chen looked around with a puzzled expression on her face. Lu Jim came to her rescue, "Now now. Miss Yu Chen, don't be like this. Mr. Darcy just offered you his scholarship."
Yu Chen was shocked out of words. There was so much she wanted to say. Tha tall boy in front of her was Darcy!?!? But Darcy was the family name of the founder and CEO of Mao enterprises, the company that organised the competition. And he had offered his own scholarship to Chen? Why?
But all Chen managed to get out of her mouth was, "D-Darcy?!?!? Why....Why me?"
