บท 15: An offer
So Si Xia had done it. He had done everything that he should have never have done.
He broke the heart of the one he loved, married the one he was truly repulsed by and had built up a great business with the money Zuan's father had provided him. All this to protect Chi Chi, because five years ago, he was not strong enough to protect Chi Chi, but that was not the case now.
Over the years, he had accumulated not only wealth, but also strong connections, strong enough to overpower Mr. Yuan and protect Chi Chi. But alas, what was the point now, she had said, "I don't love you anymore."
Si Xia's train of thought was broken by a loud horn of a car. He realised that he had switched to the wrong side of the road and was about to crash into another car. In a fit of panic, he turned the steering wheel and slammed the breaks. He had avoided the crash but had driven his car into a tree.
Si Xia got out and looked at the car. It was ruined, so he called his assistant and asked him to send another car.
But suddenly the phone was snatched from his assistant and a shrill voice penetrated his ears.
Si Zuan: "Oh my god!! Xia!! Where are you? How could you leave me at the party like that!?!"
Si Xia: "I had some urgent business to take care of. And my car crashed, so could you Jing Shen his phone back."
Si Zuan: "OH MY GOD!! YOUR CAR CRASHED!?!? ARE YOU ALL RIGHT?!"
Si Xia held the phone away from his ear as Zuan shouted through it. But she would still not calm down, even after Si Xia assuring her that he was fine. At last he had to agree and get checked at a hospital for a concussion.
Si Xia was sitting in the hospital's VIP area pinching the area between his eyes and thinking how messed up everything had become and how could he solve it, he heard footsteps. Thinking that it was probably the doctor coming to tell him that he could go home, he looked up.
But instead he saw a woman in a professional attire. She came towards him and said, "Mr. Si Xia?"
Si Xia: "Yes that's me. How do you know me?"
Ni Yeng: "Hello. My name is Ni Yeng and I have a proposition for you."
Si Xia: "No thank you. I have had my fill of propositions for my life."
Ni Yeng: "But I think you will rather like this one. It will give you a chance to change everything that you want in your life."
Si Xia: "What do you mean?"
Ni Yeng then went on to tell him that she worked at a company named ' a chance to change'. They had made a time machine that could send people to the past and were looking for people to send to their pasts and study what impact it would have on their futures.
Hearing all this, Si Xia cracked up, "Oh today is not the April fool's day is it? Such a beautifully laid prank you all are playing. Haha haha."
