Lennon had been staring at the turquoise streak in the sky for a couple minutes now, entirely absorbed in its beauty... As a peasant, he didn't get many luxuries, even the essentials were sometimes hard to come by. Food, water, clothing... But, he was beginning to think this made up for i-"
*Thud!*
A rock collides with the back of his head, knocking him to the floor and disorientating him. He rolls onto his back and looks up at the sky to where the light was, still shining in the sky... Unfortunately, a shadow covers him, Bennet's fat head blocking his view to the magnificent sight.
Bennet "I told you once you lazy bastard, if you don't get to FUCKIN' work I'll bury you UNDER THIS FIELD!" he shouts, veins bulging as spittle from his mouth hits Lennon in the face.
Lennon slowly nods, "I know, I know! I'm sorry, I just got distrac-"
*Bang*
A fist connects with his cheek courtesy of Bennet, "I don't know what Jerma was thinking marrying you... YOU'RE FUCKING USELESS!" he says, walking back and forth with a furious expression.
Lennons can only lay his head on the wet mud, wishing he'd be spared another beating from his father-in-law... He takes a breath and finds his eyes wandering again, back to the sky... Wait, what is that?
...
A figure was falling from the sky at incredible speeds, Lennon was only able to notice it due to the strange lights covering it.
Lennon "B-Bennet? W-what's that?" he asks as the figure continues to descend.
Bennet glares at him, "Tryin' to distract me again? Thought the same trick would work twice? I'll show you!" he shouts preparing to give Lennon a kick when something collides with their barn, collapsing it entirely.
...
Anything Bennet was about to say were caught in his throat as he looked on at his families property, the barn that'd been standing for centuries was destroyed just like that...
Bennet "AHHHHRGGHHHH! FUUUCK! WHAT IS THIS! WHY!"
Lennon gets to his feet, stumbling as he does so, hoping that Jerma wasn't in the barn when it'd collapsed.
Bennet continues to scream in horror, "I BET IT'S THOSE MAGIC USERS! CURSIN' US POOR FOLK! WE SHOULD JUST BURN 'EM ALL!" he shouts, briskly walking towards the barn in-order to find the culprit.
Lennon follows as closely as his can, still feeling woozy from the rock to the head, as the get closer to the wreckage of the barn, both he and Bennet can small something strange.
Looking inside, they both spot an arm sticking out from under the debris... Both are immediately horrified by this, thinking that it was Jerma. Putting aside their differences for now both Lennon and Bennet clamber towards it and start trying to dig them out.
They pull the wood off and are greeted with the face of, not Jerma, but an unidentified man wearing blue robes that seem unharmed by the disaster...
Bennet "You! This must be that magic cunt who destroyed the Barn!" he exclaims.
Lennon "You don't know that... It might just be a thief..." he mutters, not knowing whether he was helping this man or not.
Bennet shakes his head, "A thief surviving a collapsing building? Don't be daft!... Atleast there's a silver linin' to this... We 'ave plenty of firewood to burn this fuckar'." he says with a sadistic grin.
Lennon "W-wait you can't! Burning magicals and nonhumans was banned! We should report this to-"
*Smack!*
Lennon topples over as yet another punch connects with his face... Bennet scowls, "Shut your mouth or I'll tear it off your fuckin' face. I'm burnin' this cunt, if you try ta' stop me I'll put you with 'im!" he says, reaching over to grab the unidentified man's hand.
*CRACKLE!*
Without warning a burst of electricity shoots from the man and hits Bennet in the chest, burning and knocking him unconscious.
...
Lennon "Fuck... He is magic!" he exclaims in shock.
"Dear? Father? What's happened?!" a familiar voice shouts from behind him, a bucket of water dropping from their hands as they look at the collapsed barn.
Lennon "Jerma! This man fell from the sky! And Bennet was injured when he tried to touch 'im!" he quickly says, hoping he'd not be blamed for whatever situation this was.
Jerma kneels down to see if her father was already, breathing a sigh of relief when she finds that he's only unconscious... The burns on his chest could probably be healed by the healer of the nearby village. She gets up an walks over to the man apparently responsible for the destruction of their barn.
Lennon "D-Don't touch him! You'll get hurt too!" he exclaims as he sees her approaching him.
Jerma slowly nods, picking up a piece of wood and prodding the man with it to check if it was safe... "I'm going to try help him... The risk is worth the reward, he'll be grateful to us, maybe we could even move to one of the cities." she says, having always dreamed of living in one of those magnificent works of art.
Lennon isn't really sure what to do, what she said was true, especially if this person belonged to the Holy Empire... They could be set for life and never have to work again. This was the only thing stopping him from completely forbidding any contact with the man... His clenched his teeth, hands, and buttocks when he sees Jerma reaching for the man's face.
...
Only, the burst of lightning never came, Jerma was completely fine as she touched the man's face and neck to see if he was still alive...
Once they'd checked that the man was not injured, they lifted him and placed him on Bennet's bed within their house... Afterward remembering that Bennet was outside, lifting him and placing him on the living room floor...
I name thee, Caps lock Bennet... Only second to Caps lock Harry...
