บท 4: The path to my new home
Travelling down stream the sounds, smell and sights all flood towards me. To be frank it's a nice and peaceful atmosphere. The sounds of birds and insects ringing through the air, the smell of the forests filling the area, and the giant bear blocking my path... wait what?
Oh! Damn that's a big bear. It's taller than me by at least 2 meters and it's a cute colour. The bear, although is releasing killing intent, is a mix of pink, red and yellow. Why it's those colours I don't really understand but I guess in a world where you can strike your enemies with long distance magic attacks there isn't a need for ambush tactics.
As I steadily approached the care bear like thing it's body glowed a light green. When its body was wrapped in this light it's body slowly grew even larger and it's fur looked as if it changed material. The fur now looked strong and sturdy rather than soft and fluffy.
When the glow finally subsided the bear was now at least 4 maybe 5 meters taller than me. It's quite large now and although it's still a cute colour the killing intent it's releasing is getting to me. As my race has changed and I've gained these new senses I can clearly feel the intent it is releasing as well as the dangerous aura it has.
Now although I could run away I will try to kill it to become stronger. After living my life like I had and losing my one love in my life I'm not gonna let that happen again. I will become stronger and be able to walk along side the ones I love.
Taking my stance I get ready for a battle. Wrapping my tail to the left side of my body I get ready to use it like a whip if needed. I bare my teeth and growl at it. It may be instinct that is causing me to act like this but I just don't want to back down. Almost like I shall not bow down to no one as I am the ruler.
*RROOAARR* the bear roars in response to my stance and growl. The bear moves at a quicker speed than I expected but I could still keep up with it. It quickly arrives at my position and swipes it's claws at me.
I managed to dodge by stepping and leaning back. During this process I used my tail that was like a spring locked trigger and smacked it across the face. Leaving a very visible whip like mark across its face going from its right eye down to its mouth.
Stumbling at the impact on its face it lets out a whine as it hurriedly stepped back to try and get back its stance. Not letting the chance escape me I leaned forward while lowering my body. Shooting upwards I slashed at the bear from underneath with my claws.
Making an impact I managed to draw blood but not a great deal. It may have been the result of the light green glow from earlier but it's body is a lot more sturdy than that spiked panther from before.
While the bear was still getting its 'bearings' haha see what I did there? I arrived at the side of the bear and slammed my body into it. Sending the bear tumbling onto it's side I stomped down as best I could onto it's stomach while the bear gave a groan of pain.
Still not doing a great deal of damage the bear finally got back into the fight and it slammed into back left foot into me. Being sent a few meters back I climbed onto my feet getting ready for the next exchange of blows.
Lifting my gaze towards the bear I was getting ready to bite its neck and suffocate it if I have to but... IT RAN WAY!!! Quite literally with its tail hanging low between its legs it ran as fast as it could away from me. I don't know why it ran away but I'm pissed off now. I could give chase but by the time I caught up it just wouldn't be worth the effort.
Grumbling to myself I just decided to continue with my journey and after a few hours of uneventful travel I finally found the perfect place.
The lake that came into view was a beautiful crystal blue and sparkled with the sun. The forest surrounds the entire lake with mountains behind them on all sides. If you were to get an birds eye view it would look more like a volcano with a lake in the middle. Only later would I find out that this place was one of the most dangerous places on the continent. But that's for later.
Now I could live on the surface or even underground in a cave type system. I think for the moment I will live in a cave to ensure that I will be safe at least when sleeping. After thinking of my plan I began to search for a suitable location.
After yet again a few hours of searching I didn't really find anything. I had managed to find a few but it would need some alterations done to be able to be suitable for myself. Seeing how later on I will gain an ability to allow me to turn humanoid I want to find a place that I would be able to make a section for a humanoid to live at.
With these additional conditions it brought the potential locations down to two. The first place is located in the side of a hill just a 10 minute walk away from the lake. It's surrounded by trees and large rocks. Apart from these there isn't really any other features however it also seems that not many creatures walk past this area so it may be the safest option.
The second location and the one I decided on is located at one of the many large trees that I will name the world trees. The tree is so large that I should be able to live in its trunk if I carved it out. I would be able to live here even when I become an adult Godzilla. That is how unbelievably large these trees are.
At the specific tree I had picked there are signs of creature activity but the scenery of this location is just too good to pass. The tree is located on a slightly elevated piece of land that allows me a beautiful view of the lake, forest and distant mountains. But don't worry I will be safe as I'll dig into the tree to make the entrance and then dig down into the hill through there. It will be safe... 100%!!! I hope.
All I need to do is build my home while also getting stronger to claim this part of the area as my territory. Much like how animals back on earth especially the big cats make a territory I should be able to be safe if I can show the other creatures that I am an alpha predator. This should help me gain a foothold in this world and be the start to my new journey.
