บท 125: Chapter 124: Wish

"A couple of weeks ago, the Douluo Continent was ravaged by several devastating attacks orchestrated by an evil organization called the Holy Spirit Cult." Zang Xin crossed his arms behind his back as he faced the Xiu Ye and his group with a somber look on his face.

"This left several cities either completely destroyed or quarantined. Shrek, Tang Sect, Spirit Pagoda and the Federation will extend all of their help and resources into rebuilding the destroy cities as best we could. As for the matter of the quarantined cities, we are doing our best in saving them and we will put up updates about what is happening in the official Sun Moon Federation website."

Tang Wulin blinked his eyes and leaned towards Xie Xie, whispering, "They have a website?"

"Of course they do. Almost every organization or any noteworthy group of people has a website on soulnet. Did you not logged in into the Tang Sect's, "Peerless Tang", official secret website and joined us talking in either forums or group chat?" Xie Xie stared at him in confusion.

Tang Wulin stared back dumbstruck.

While the two talked in hushed voices, Zang Xin continued on talking.

"Even if we had tried our best, to try and save them when it occured, we were too late to stop it and could only do damage control." He let a long, dreary sigh. His face seemed to have aged decades with his eyes lacking its previous lively luster.

"We had underestimated how prepared and powerful the Holy Spirit Cult was, even more so when we saw what was helping them take over the city so fast in just little time–zombies. And they weren't any normal zombies mind you; that walk around slowly that even a teenager with a bat could deal with a group of them, no, they were exceptionally strong. Extremely so. Some were even strong enough to rival a Hyper Douluo! And they numbered in the hundreds!" His frowning face showed how serious and unpleasant that situation was.

Xiu Ye and his group's eyes widened in shock.

'Holy crap. Although it wasn't easy for us as well, even I would just fuck it and destroy the entire city with a A-rank anti-city Noble Phantasm if those zombies were that strong. Though, that does begs the question.' His eyes narrowed.

'Why was there no Titled Douluo ghoul? Was it because of a certain restriction? Or because, those with Soul Douluo cultivation and above were used in the ritual for bringing Cthulhu into this world instead of being part of a undead army.' He pondered inwardly.

"We all thought that every city that was being attacked was lost to the Holy Spirit Cult." Zang Xin's eyes then locked eyes with Xiu Ye.

"So imagine our shock and joy when we heard that Skysea City's forces, not only repelled the cultists from their city but also defeated every undead as well: retaking the city back from such vile villains." The corners of his lips tugged up into a soft smile.

"What's even more shocking, that a 11 year old boy called Xiu Ye here; together with his friends and teacher, had been the one who led the charge that consists the forces of both the Federation and Tang Sect against the Holy Spirit Cult. The how is long and is something anyone can find in the soultube and our website, so I won't go deep into it."

"Since ancient times, when times of darkness arise, plaguing the world of its villains and evil; so too would the heroes rise up in arms to fight against them."

"Twenty thousand years ago, Thousand Hands Douluo Tang San and the first generation Shrek Monsters were the people who defeated the evil Spirit Hall; an organization that planned to rule the entire continent."

"Ten thousand years ago, Spirit Ice Douluo Huo Yuhao, his wife and his generation of Shrek Monsters had not only brought the then fallen Tang Sect from its embers into what it is today, but also repelled the technological advanced army of the Sun Moon Kingdom and also hunted the predecessor of the Holy Spirit Cult into extinction."

"Now, a new group of heroes have arrived. I wonder, will some of you create a legend as grand as Tang San and Huo Yuhao, that even tens of thousands of years has passed, we still remember them to this day."

A heavy atmosphere suddenly descended in the room.

Tang Wulin and the other children exchanged nervous looks between them.

Could they? Although they have undead monsters and cultists, can they make a legend that will last till the end of time?

They were uncertain.

Except for one person.

"The future is uncertain and ever changing," Xiu Ye stepped forward and came closer to Zang Xin. He looked up to him, who was about two meters tall, with a resolute expression. "I don't know if I can carve my story in the pages of history and be remembered for thousands of years, or be forgotten in the passage of time, but I do know that I won't just stand by and let evil and injustice happen in front of me."

Soul power undulations appeared on the surface of his skin, sparking arcs of electricity across both of his raised arms.

In his left, Mjolnir; producing blue electricity around its head. In his right, Ryūjin Jakka in its sheath; instantly increasing the room's temperature.

"I took up my hammer to forge metal and steel into weapons, not for war or for pillaging, but to give them to people who use them to save the lives of others. I took up my sword, not to strike the weak and innocent, but to destroy evil and deliver justice. I am, an ally to justice."

"Hoh. Such passion," A middle aged man with long golden locks wearing a two piece black tuxedo and black trousers and black shoes stepped by the side of Zang Xin. He had a wide grin in his face. "I like it. But I wonder, will you still have the same conviction you're giving us right now in the future? Will you one day, stray from your path when a different one opens up?"

His name is Ao Rui, known as the Vast Sun Douluo and the first War God of the War God Temple: a high-end combat military force cultivated by the Federation, secretly kept by the public. So the public and the news crew only knows that he's a high rank member of the Federation.

Xiu Ye stood straighter, his golden eyes flashed into silver steel, "Because steel is my body and fire is my blood. I am metal that wouldn't break or falter, and my will to help others will always burn as bright as the sun."

"Well said." Yun Ming said as he stepped forward beside Zang Xin and in front of Xiu Ye, smiling at him in amazement and sadness. "But, know this. To walk down this path of good, could lead to certain... uncertainties that would may or may not break you."

"I have no regrets. This is the only path. But..." He turned to his left to see Tang Wulin grinning at him and by his side was Xie Xie, Xu Xiaoyan and Xu Lizhi. He then turned to the other side to see Gu Yue, Mu Xi and Ye Xinglan.

All of them were smiling at him.

"I wouldn't be alone in this journey."

He suddenly felt lighter, as if a weight on his shoulder was taken out.

Not only that, but he also felt something changed within him, something deep within the confines of his soul–his inner world.

Although he wanted to check out what was going on, he can do it later on.

Suddenly, Ya Li clapped her hands with a smile on her face, snapping everyone out, "Okay! That's enough of that. We can talk about the future of the children on a later date. Let's proceed to giving the children their rewards and then we'll start eating, because as embarrassed as I am to tell you all–I am famished, I didn't manage to eat anything this morning because I got excited in meeting these young heroes."

Everyone stared at her in confusion before bursting out in fits of laughter and giggles. Ya Li pouted at the sight of them laughing at her.

Xu Shengqun, a Spiriter from Spirit Pagoda, chuckled and nodded his head in agreement. "I share the same yearning as the Holy Spirit Douluo. I skipped breakfast as well, thinking that this would end quickly."

Yun Ming nodded his head, "I agree. Children," Xiu Ye and his friends, as well as the other Shrek students who stepped forward to stand behind them, faced the strongest soul master in the world with serious and curious expressions. "we've been thinking about what your rewards would be and we all decided to grant each one of you a wish; with the limit being that it is achievable within our capabilities."

Xiu Ye widened his eyes and gulped. "Sir, when you say, you...? You mean....?"

Yun Ming's smile widened. "Ya Li, Zang Xin, Ao Rui, Xun Shengqun and myself Yun Ming, will grant one but limited wish from each each of us to each of you children. In other words, each of you would get a total of four wishes or favors from four different but very powerful Titled Douluo such as ourselves."

Four wishes, from four clearly powerful Titled Douluos?

Of course, some of them didn't even hesitate to tell the powerful soul masters what their wishes were.

The only who didn't were Xiu Ye and his friends, as the former had telepathically told them think about their wishes properly and saved the wish Yun Ming would grant them later on when the time comes.

As Xiu Ye was pondering about what he wanted, he heard his name being called.

"And Xiu Ye," Yun Ming proclaimed. "considering the merits you have done, you will be getting two wishes from each of us rather than one."

'This day just keeps getting better and better.' He opened his mouth, he decided what to use one wish from each of them already.

"I want..."

.....

Xiu Ye walked along the lakeshore of the Sea God's Lake, the water and sand staining his bare feet, with a piece of white cake with strawberry on top on a plate in hand.

He took small pieces of the cake as he stared across the wide and beautiful lake and into a large mass of land in the middle of it.

Sea God's Island, the home of the inner court students and Sea God Pavilion members and where the Ancient Tree of Life was standing.

It was also, if he can still recall the story correctly, where Na'er was at.

'I don't have to worry much longer. Using one of my two wishes from Yun Ming to appoint me as a librarian in Sea God's Island library, I would meet Na'er soon.'

Some of you might wonder, why would Xiu Ye used one of his wishes to become a librarian?

Well, one because unlike other normal school libraries; the one Shrek had in Sea God Island contained much more comprehensive knowledge about cultivation; either for all various types of Soul Beasts and Soul Masters, and much more detailed telling of history dating to the academy's founding.

There he would be able to find out more secrets about this world had and its true history: the changes in Tang San to Huo Yuhao generations.

Also, being a librarian meant his freedom wasn't quite as restrictive like a student would be and being a teacher isn't much better as well. Being a librarian is a much better choice if he wanted to stay in Shrek Academy.

He let out a sigh as he ate the strawberry on the piece of cake.

"Still, I miss you Na'er."

"You called, big brother Ye?"

Xiu Ye froze in place as a little girl, with long silver hair and similar colored eyes; wearing a white sundress, appeared right in front of him like a ghost with a smile on her face. Tears streaming down her cheeks.

"*Sniff* Long time no see, big bro Ye." Na'er sobbed as she stood taller with her toes and slowly brought both of her hands up to touch the cheeks of her big brother. Her smile widened at the familiar touch she had missed every single day.

Ah, she can still smell the familiar scent of her big brother Ye.

And his face. Her cheeks turned rosy. She hadn't seen him for over a year now and yet he looks to be much more handsome and different. His golden eyes, shining like they were real gold. His crimson hair, grown much longer since she last saw him, was flowing in the air like autumn leaves with a patch of white in them like the color of snow. Also, his skin looks to be a tone darker than before.

Even so, despite looking different, Na'er still knows that the one standing in front of her was her big brother Xiu Ye.

"I missed you so much as well." Na'er said as she giggled. She blinked her eyes, she noticed something strange about her big bro Ye.

'Hm? Is it just me, or is his cheeks turning blue?'

Xiu Ye was choking.

Not in happiness or joy, but was literally choking on the strawberry he swallowed earlier.

❄️

Not gonna lie here, I added the cake scene because of the wedding I attended a couple weeks ago and the birthday cake me and my classmates were making yesterday.😆
