บท 101: Chapter 100: The War on the Undead(3)
Hours earlier.
"So, I hear that you know about the main culprit of this zombie problem we have?" A forty year old main with short, spiked black hair, grey sideburns and an almost permanent scowl on his face stared down at Xiu Ye with his azure piercing eyes.
His name is Chen Lou, the branch master of Skysea City's Tang Sect as well as a member of the Inner Hall of Tang Sect. He's a rank 88 Soul Douluo with a three-word battle armor, he is one of the many unfortunate or fortunate experts that is unable to help in the battle to repel the evil soul masters and the undead army.
He was just having a meeting with the other higher-ups of Tang Sect and other experts from different organizations in the city: the Federation, Spirit Pagoda and etc. via long distance soul screen communication in the meeting room.
They were all talking about what they were going to do; planning out how to rescue and defend the survivors in city out of safe areas, making up battle strategies to further their advancements against the enemies and reinforce their defenses, when he and the others was suddenly interrupted by one of their members about someone having an important information connected to what was going on.
Normally he and the rest of his fellow colleagues would have punished the person for interrupting an important meeting, if it weren't for the fact that Chen Lou and some of his colleagues had recognized the person who had interrupted them.
Wu Zhangkong. Although his achievements and talent isn't mostly known in the public but to those who are Tang Sect and Shrek, he was at the same level of genius as a Shrek Seven Monster.
With his unparalleled sword skills, almost perfect ice and soul power manipulation, as well as ice cold charms that can make any girl and woman swoon at first sight of him, Wu Zhangkong had mostly dominated all of his piers in his generation!
If he had continued on with his path then perhaps, he would have already be at the same level as Chen Lou right now!
Sadly however, if it weren't for that day...
Chen Lou was speechless for a moment before excusing himself from his meeting and quickly asked Wu Zhangkong tell him what was reason for interrupting him.
Which lead him to the boy in front of him.
The three standing around together in a middle of a room with only a single table by the side with four chairs around it.
Xiu Ye fearlessly stared straight back at the man's eyes with indifference. "The person leading the evil soul masters, and the mastermind of this entire mess, is a candidate to the Heavenly King position of the Holy Spirit Cult who is called Na Nali. She is a rank 80+ Soul Douluo control system with a martial soul called the Darkness Bell. It is capable of inflicting wide range spiritual attacks but the most terrifying part about her is her spiritual power, which is at the Spiritual Domain Realm. Which some of you all might know, that anything less of a Limit Douluo can't defeat her except for anyone with the same level of spiritual power as her."
Chen Lou widened his eyes in surprise.
"Boy, are you joking with me right now?"
Xiu Ye blankly stared at him. "Branchmaster, with how the current situation is, do you really think that I, or anyone else for that matter, would be joking around?"
Chen Lou huffed. "Sorry if I find it hard to believe but, I find it really hard to believe that a sixteen year old something kid would know about the person who is leading the evil soul masters that's trying to take over our city via an undead army."
Xiu Ye sighed. "I would also share the same feeling as well branchmaster; if someone my age would suddenly tell me the identity of the main perpetrator of a zombie outbreak while my greatest subordinates was not able to find out. By the way branchmaster; I'm eleven years old, not sixteen."
Chen Lou raised his eyebrows in surprise but didn't comment much about his age and his height.
It wasn't really that much strange for a child to be more taller than his/her peers as it is probably because due to either their natural genes or the influence of their martial souls.
"But unlike them, I had personally met and questioned Na Nali."
At that, Chen Lou widened his eyes in shock.
"What? You personally met her?"
Xiu Ye didn't waste any time to explain how she suddenly appeared in his hotel room and how she wanted to recruit him and his team into her organization. He also told him that he had only managed to escaped due to his second martial soul, a space-type capable of creating portals to travel to a different and far away location.
"I see..." Chen Lou said as he cupped his chin, deep in thought. "That is very useful information. It also aligns with our information that the outbreak first started in the Skysea Alliance Stadium. But that doesn't explain their intentions however. She wanted to recruit you and you friends right? And probably even more young ones in the tournament, so starting a zombie outbreak is counterproductive. The infection would have killed or infected them. It just doesn't make sense."
Xiu Ye and Wu Zhangkong narrowed their eyes as they also come up with the same conclusion.
Was recruiting new blood really their intentions in this city only? Or was that all a cover for the real plan to happen in the city?
Xiu Ye's face darkened. "What if, they're doing this zombie outbreak as a means to recruit people as well as promote their strength?"
Wu Zhangkong and Chen Lou whipped their heads towards him in shock of his theory.
"True," Chen Lou muttered. A look of realization and horror appeared on his face. "we were so occupied with the zombie situation and rescuing civilians that we forgot that evil soul masters feed off in any evil environment that had negative emotions, destruction, death, etc."
"But we never noticed many powerful evil soul masters. They were just like any normal evil soul masters we dealt with. With what you said and what we know about them, evil soul masters should be getting their powers increased in this situation. Yet, they fought as normally as they usually do..."
"And people joining them..." Wu Zhangkong's face hardened as the temperature in the room dropped significantly. "Is entirely possible. People, no, humans in this evil situation would be desperate and/or stupid enough, no matter their excuse, to seek out the evil soul masters."
Chen Lou frowned. "But our intelligence never noticed anyone joining them. Tang Sect might be known for their soul technology and weapon manufacturing, but we mostly specialized in the shadows. Just a piece of information of someone joining the evil soul masters should have already been received by us yet all we're getting is that they've just been killing and infecting anyone, not on their side, that they see."
They were getting nowhere. Just what was the evil soul masters goal?
Why had they unleashed a zombie outbreak?
What was the point of all this?!
Xiu Ye shook his head. "We aren't going to be getting any answers unless we capture and interrogate Na Nali."
"Which is going to be impossible since there are no Titled Douluos here, well there are but you both know the point, that can help us out because of this goddamn curse." Chen Lou sighed with a guilty and helpless expression on his face.
Every powerful soul master experts in the city, Hyper Douluo to Soul Douluo cultivation level, was cursed to freeze in place when they try to kill an undead or an evil soul master.
Some had tried to help out the civilians but they were stopped by their colleagues. If they go out and get themselves infected, then the situation of the city would be far, far worse.
They don't know if a Limit Douluo is also restricted but the only known Limit Douluo stationed here in the city, the Boundless Sea Douluo, was out of the city currently with most of the navy in a diplomatic journey towards Star Luo Continent.
Everything seem lost now. Thankfully survivors who made it all into the Federation shelters, Spirit Pagoda and Tang Sect could make it out of the city alive via the secret tunnels.
Xiu Ye smirked. "Who said about needing a Titled Douluo?" Suddenly a burst of dense spiritual power rose out of his body and enveloped both Wu Zhangkong and Chen Lou, the only other people in the room, in it.
The two older men widened their eyes and tried to fight back but their minds went blank.
A brief moment passed and Xiu Ye retracted his spiritual power into his body, releasing the two from their dazed state.
Chen Lou blinked his eyes and widened them in complete speechlessness.
"You... Spiritual Domain Realm?!"
Wu Zhangkong was also feeling the same way for a moment before releasing a sigh. 'Its Xiu Ye, of course he's going to have his spiritual power at the Spiritual Domain Realm.' Being around the boy for almost a year now has already gotten him used to his impossible feats.
"Yes. But this wouldn't be enough. I had tried resisting Na Nali with my spiritual power before but her's is a bit more powerful than mine, so we really do need a Titled Douluo."
Chen Lou sighed. He knew that it was too good to be true. "Then why would you say that we didn't need a Titled Douluo?"
Xiu Ye smiled. "Because fighting off against a horde of undead and small fry evil soul masters to destroy whatever curse binds Soul Douluos and above, doesn't need a Titled Douluo."
"What?!" Both Chen Lou and Wu Zhangkong shouted in disbelief.
Did they just hear that right? Destroying the thing that binds Soul Douluos and above, Xiu Ye could do it?
"How?" Chen Lou asked with a serious expression.
Xiu Ye shook his head. "Explaining it would take too long and you probably wouldn't even believe me. But trust me when I say I have the means of accomplishing it. The only reason I couldn't do it to you and others is now because I need to find the source to really free you all."
Could he really trust him? Chen Lou stared at the eleven year old in front him with a serious expression, not showing his true emotions to show.
Honestly, with how hopeless the situation is, he would take anything if it means turning this shit around.
Chen Lou sighed. "What do you need?"
"You guys have a hyperbolic time chamber right?"
"....A what?"
