บท 5: Chapter 4
Xyris P.O.V.
"Alpha Kaige, it's a pleasure seeing you here." Bati ni Brandon dito.
Lihim akong napangiti. He is an Alpha, that explains the powerful aura that he emits. No doubt, he is totally handsome in close up like this. I'm pretty sure his mate will be lucky— napangiwi ako sa naisip. Maybe not so lucky after all, knowing their tradition. I can already feel the pain on behalf of his mate.
Imbes na sagutin ang pagbati ni brandon ay dumako ang tingin ng Alpha sa kapatid nito. I can tell that they are mindlinking each other, panic is clearly visible on the woman's eyes.
Poor creature, without the effect of the ritual the mate bond will be evident and her wolf will recognize Brandon as her mate. Brandon on the other hand looks clueless on what is happening. To heal his soul, I needed to remove necessary things that needs to be remove and that includes his memories of her and the strings of fate that connects them. I know it would be very unfair to the woman's side but it is only temporary. Once his wolf is fully healed from the damage, the strings of fate will stitch itself back.
I tug Brandon's arm to get his attention. "You know them?" I asked. Trying to look as innocent as I can.
Brandon smiles at me and run his hand to his hair.
"Oh, how could I forget? Anyway Xyris, this is Kaige the owner of this island and Nathalie his sister."
Mula kay Brandon ay bumaling ang tingin ko sa magkapatid. I let out a friendly smile particularly to the Alpha. He is handsome, I'd give him that. Though most werewolves I knew really possessed good looks. Damn! How could he look irritated and handsome at the same time? That is not supposed to be permitted, it is illegal!
Kaige's eyes turns to me. For some reason, I can feel my stomach churn uncomfortably under his gaze. My skin starts to tingles as if it is slowly burning from the inside. Pinigilan ko ang mapakunot ng noo at pinilit ang sarili ko na panatilihin ang ngiti. I don't really want to act rude at my first meeting with them.
"Who are you?" Damn! Even his voice is sending me chills. Not in a bad way but certainly not in a good way either.
"You can call me Xyris. I'm not really someone of importance. I just came here for a vacation." Pagpapakilala ko rito. I raise out my hand to them for a handshake.
Instead of accepting my hand, the alpha's brows furrow in confusion as he surveyed my face. I can read his eyes, he doesn't trust me nor my innocent act.
My smile slowly turns into a smirk; it seems that I have underestimated his ability. I withdraw my hand but I made sure that smile remains. Deep inside I am starting to be amaze for his keen ability to read people's aura. He can feel me. Though he cannot identify me completely but he surely doubts my harmless human appearance.
Sinalubong ko ang mga mata nito. At this moment I'm already celebrating silently on my brilliant idea on how to help this pack. I just need to find his mate first. From the Alpha, I turn my eyes to the beautiful woman beside him. Pain is written on her face, I'm pretty sure she is starting to feel the bitter taste of her own medicine.
"Aren't you supposed dead by now?" Kaige asked, pertaining to the Brandon.
This time, Brandon's eyes squinted. As if thinking what does Alpha Kaige means by his word. I can feel his mental struggle to remember what happened last night. He won't be able to recall anything yet, not until his wolf is fully healed.
"I- I honestly cannot remember." Brandon answered truthfully. "I wake up in the bed today and I don't know, it seems that something happened last night but I just cannot recall it. Damn, I can't even remember why I am in your territory." He answered that makes the two person in front of us looks curious and suspicious.
That's my cue to speak.
"Dead? Territory? Am I missing something here?" I asks while trying my best to look curious and innocent. Brandon's eyes turn to me. He let out a reassuring smile and pulls me closer to his side.
"Nothing, it is just something related with Kaige's hotel." He assured me before facing the two siblings again. "Kaige, I promise my beautiful girl here that I will be teaching her surfing today. Let's just talk about this privately some other time."
Kaige raise his eyebrow but otherwise nodded at his suggestion.
"Let's go?" I said while looking at Brandon with a mixture of excitement and admiration written in my eyes. A gorgeous smile is painted on my lips that I know no man can resist.
Brandon smile back and give me a feather light kiss on my forehead. "Yeah." He whispered.
I admit that the kiss surprise me but I choose to ignore and just let it slide. I can feel the pain of the woman in front of us seeing Brandon's sweet gestures. Lihim akong napangiti. Serves her right.

The beach is quite friendly today as Brandon patiently teach me the basic of surfing. After an hour of playing in the waves we both decided to take a small stroll throughout the island.
Duskfall Island is famous for its blue waves and lush ecosystem which is not surprising for me considering that the residents here are werewolves.
"So? May I know what is the real reason why you are in this place?" I ask, curious if he is already starting to remember anything about his mate.
Brandon let out a lame smile at my question. "Well, it seems that you don't trust me too much that you need to asks me twice for that."
I look around the huge trees to avoid his eyes. He is quite really friendly and trustworthy, that makes lying to him hard.
"I do believe you until that hotel owner showed up and says that you're supposed to be dead already."
I can feel that he stiffen a bit at my statement. He probably did not expect that I'm going to recall his conversation the alpha a while ago.
"It's really a complicated situation." His handsome face puckered as he tries to comprehend the right word to explain his side without making it sound alarming.
"You see, I am part of a group that is kinda similar to Kaige's group and weeks ago we have this some kind of misunderstanding and now that you ask about it. It feels kinda weird that I cannot remember anything on why we are not in good terms." His forehead furrow as he speak. Trying to remember the missing piece that I have taken away from his memory.
I nodded. "I understand if you don't want to tell me. No worries, it is not that I'm interested about it anyway. It's really out of my concern." Pag aasure ko rito.
I do not want him to remember anything yet from our first encounter. Atleast not yet.
He let out a thankful smile at my response. As we continue out short stroll, we reach a falls that seems to be hidden from the crowd in the beach.
"Wow! This place was not in their brochure." Namamanghang inilibot ko ang tingin sa talon.
"It's because this place is quite sacred for us." Our attention was captured by an unfamiliar voice of a woman from behind us.
I immediately turn around to see who seems to be the owner of that voice is. My bluish grey eyes met a dark brown one.
I let out a friendly smile to hide the sudden and unexplainable irritation I'm feeling upon seeing her face.
"Hi! Are you a tourist here too?" I make sure to hide the annoyance in my voice behind an amicable tone.
The woman gave me a short glance but did not answer. Pssshh rude.
Her eyes turns to Brandon as she throws him a questioning look.
"Annalise." Brandon acknowledged her and let out a friendly smile at the woman. "I did not expect to see you here."
"Who is she?" Tanong ng babae habang nagtatakang nakatingin sa akin. I can't help but raise my eyebrow at her tone of voice.
Dryads are friendly in nature but at the moment I am anything but friendly. I rolled my eyes internally. Bitch!
Either that she was raised with people who made her believe that anyone should cower before her or she's just simply rude. Either way, I hate her already.
"You can call me Xyris." I introduce myself and gave her a wide grin to mask my irritation. This woman is getting into my nerves and we haven't properly introduced to each other yet.
The dark brown eyes just look at me with curiosity and I can't help but felt judged under her scrutinising gaze. I can feel the tension between us rises. Funny for it feels like as if there is a silent competition between us though I cannot explain why.
