บท 23: Chapter 22 - Meeting of the two
Ernie dashed through the front entrance of the Itaku clan ignoring all the other fighting going on around him. He crossed his arms as he clenched his fist. Ice needles appeared in his hands and he tossed them at two ninja.
One ninja was caught off guard and the ice needles Ernie threw pierced through his arm, while the other one deflected the needles. Ernie felt danger approaching him and he dodged to the left, two shuriken landed in his direction but missed.
He held out his right arm as his hand made various hand signs before a long ice sword appeared in his hand.
One ninja that was fighting one of the Sodachi clansmen fell backwards and Ernie cut him multiple times finishing him off.
Ernie's movements were graceful, but he still kept a decent speed.
"Fireball jutsu!"
"Earth bullet!"
"Great eruption!"
Ernie stopped moving and swung around in a circle as a dome of ice covered him.
Three different jutsu hit the ice dome at the same time.
Under the pressure of these jutsu's Ernie's ice dome started to crack. He put more of his chakra into the dome to repair it, making sure it didn't fail him.
After their attacks failed, the three ninja dashed straight for Ernie, but they were intercepted by two members of the Sodachi clan.
Slowly, the Sodachi clan was pushing back the Itaku clan.
Meimu was fighting the Itaku's clan leader, while Aito was busy handling his own fight. Ernie did not have time to pay them much attention.
Swiftly Ernie scanned the battlefield and saw multiple dead Itaku clan members, but there were more wounded Sodachi members. None of them seemed to care about their wounds as they continued to push on.
Ernie slammed his palm against the ground as two ice snakes lunged forward and bit an Itaku clansmen, freezing him to death.
Ernie kept pushing himself, dodging attacks while attacking whoever he could.
He felt that this wouldn't be enough, although the Sodachi clan was pushing the Itaku clan back for now, it was only a matter of time before the Itaku clan turned the tide. They had more numbers than the Sodachi clan, and as long as they held out they could win this battle.
Ernie thought about it, and decided to use his attribute points to learn a new technique. He thought it over for a few days before and decided to learn Ten Thousand Ice Petals.
New information appeared in his head in an instant allowing him to know the correct way to use the hand signs as well as how his chakra should flow.
Ernie saw a group of Itaku clansmen and tried it out on them.
A barrage of ice darts flew from Ernie's body, some piercing the Itaku clansmen others freezing the limbs of those who tried to block it.
He had to admit, this jutsu was very effective, but currently it consumed a lot of his chakra.
After the first wave of ice darts flew out, the Itaku clan leader told his clansmen to retreat.
"Retreat!"
Meimu wasn't planning on letting them get away.
"Chase them down!"
The members of the Sodachi clan roared as they chased the Itaku clansmen. Ernie followed right behind them while Meimu lead the charge.
"Great Fireball Jutsu!"
Six large fireballs flew towards Meimu in all directions as six figures appeared. They were wearing all black, even their armor was black in color.
Ernie noticed the symbol they had on their armor.
"Uchiha!"
Ernie shouted.
Meimu spread his arms out as a bubble of water covered him causing the fireballs to lose their power. However, it still managed to harm him.
During this time, a figure flashed and appeared behind Meimu.
'Sasuke?'
Ernie was stunned, why was Sasuke Uchiha here? Wasn't this the warring states era?
It took him a moment, but he realized it wasn't really Sasuke, just someone who looked like him.
He took his sword and pierced Meimu in the back.
Meimu turned around slowly and saw the young man with red eyes. It took him a second to understand what had happened.
The young man who resembled Sasuke pulled out his sword and Meimu's body fell forward.
"Father!"
Aito shouted.
The young man turned his attention towards the Sodachi members who were frozen in place.
'Red eyes, three tomoe… definitely a member of the Uchiha clan. No, that's not important right now. What is the Uchiha clan doing here?'
Ernie saw Aito rush forward with sword in hand.
Ernie did not doubt Aito's abilities, but he definitely wouldn't underestimate the Uchiha clan. If he allowed Aito to go forward, he would surely die.
Not understanding why, Ernie felt that Aito shouldn't fall here. Maybe it was due to Aito being one of the first people Ernie interacted with, or maybe there was another reason. Whichever the case may be, Ernie's body moved.
The young man seemed to read Aito's movements and appeared in front of him before he could make it close to his father. He started to swing his sword, but instead stopped as he kicked Aito in the stomach and shot a giant fireball in Ernie's direction.
All the ice darts Ernie were shooting melted.
Seeing the fireball coming his way, Ernie dodged.
The young man flashed and seemed to materialize before Ernie, who was still in the process of moving to the side. He barely noticed the young man move.
Ernie closed his eyes as veins appeared around his eye sockets and a small amount of blood rolled down his cheek from his eye.
Before the young man could lock Ernie down, Ernie vanished and appeared a few feet away from him.
His red eyes gazed at Ernie, while Ernie's blue eyes gazed at him.
"Who are you?"
The young man asked.
"Same thing I wanted to ask you."
