Like many top Players, Jake had learned to protect his spirit as he just did by discarding his doomed body at the last moment, just as he had learned to infuse Spirit or Elemental energy like lightning or fire into his attacks to ensure his enemies wouldn't resurrect to stab him in the back.
Jake waited patiently for the upper half of his body to regenerate, his expression growing increasingly grim, until it fell into utter despondency as he realized his cells were desperately struggling to divide. Normally, they would have possessed enough energy accumulated in their Aether Code to support over 16 instant regenerations without deleterious side effects.
Finally grasping the full extent of his dire predicament, Jake, in his Spirit Body state, meticulously scanned what remained of his pelvis and legs for the cause. A searing pain jolted him out of his body instantly, an invasive energy 'drowning' and 'diluting' his mental sense like a flood or tsunami.
Just to be clear, since the Energy Body affects his cells, Twyluxia treats the Aether he produces as his own lifeforce. As you already know if you've been following along in the previous chapters, Jake could have much higher Aether stats than they currently are thanks to the Aether produced by his Grade 10 Body, but his body can't handle it. Normally, his cells subconsciously reduce their output. So, the problem isn't the Aether that Jake produces, but how much he can control under the effect of Twyluxia's restriction.
It’s important to understand that it’s not just the available energy that’s nerfed, but also his mental prowess, bloodline abilities, etc. Passing through Twyluxia's checkpoint, Lumyst suddenly allows him to have as much energy as his body can theoretically produce at any given moment, but in a predefined form. Since it's currently Life Lumyst, the effect is directly felt on his physical abilities.
