บท 40: Unexpected Fortune
Evan woke up to the sound of his phone ringing. Rylee was still sleeping against him and she stirred in response to the noise. Quickly, he grabbed his cell phone and answered it, sliding out of her grasps as he avoided waking her.
"This is Evan," he greeted, stepping outside the room.
"Hello Evan, This is Tonya Robinson with FanQuest. I am the lead organizer for our guest panelists this year. We just wanted to confirm the schedule for this event with you. Do you have a moment?"
Evan glanced behind him, noting that Rylee was still sound asleep. He continued to the living room before responding, "I have some time. What can I help you with?"
"We had you down for two panels: Webcomics and Their Creators, as well as Reimagined Fairytales. In addition, the convention director would like to organize a small signing event for promotional purposes. Following each panel fans would have a chance for the meet and greet and the signing. Because of your continued rise in popularity we feel this could be a benefit to increase attendance.
"We also would like to add two more panel appearances, if you are interested. We are willing to give a small appearance fee for your troubles in addition to the badges you've already received."
Evan was surprised. While he was becoming more popular in the convention world, being able to gain an appearance fee would raise him up a rank. Many panelists only received entry to the show, and some special guests had travel and lodging paid. Because some higher level celebrities were appearing, putting such emphasis on smaller artists like him was rare.
"I would feel rather honored. Thank you for the offer," he agreed.
"That's great. We will get the contract information sent over to you later. We also would like to offer you lodging at the Regency Hotel where we are hosted for the weekend. This way you don't have to travel far between scheduled events."
"That's great, I appreciate your time!" Evan thanked. They confirmed a few more details and he finally hung up.
Returning to the bedroom, he smiled seeing Rylee curled up holding his pillow. She slept like a cat, hair wild and tangled around her.
"Morning beautiful," Evan commented, leaning over to kiss her lips.
Rylee stirred, eyes opening and a smile crossing her lips, "Morning. Looks like Tara hasn't sent a rescue party after me."
"For now," Evan slipped back into bed with her, letting his fingers trace through her hair. "My bed will be much colder without you around. I might have to steal you more often."
She blushed, shifting slightly and tugging at her shirt. "Were you on the phone with someone?"
"A FanQuest employee. Just sorting out some last minute details for the event. They're giving me a room there for the weekend," he announced. He looked down at her tenderly. "Would you he interested in staying with me? It would be easier for you to get back and forth to the convention center that way."
Rylee looked surprised. "Wouldn't I be a bother? There are quite a few things I have to store overnight which could be on the way."
Evan wanted to laugh at her behavior. She was so concerned about other people, he could feel the nervous shake to her hand even as she leaned against him. He wanted to both comfort her and give her a loving shove for worrying over silly things. "You're never a bother to me Ry. I'd love to share this experience with you."
She finally smiled. "I guess I can't say no then." She kissed him, and he drew her even closer, hand holding her back. It didn't take long for her actions to lose their sleepy resistance, becoming more energetic. With her in his arms, the morning phone call started to skip from his thoughts.
Before Rylee knew what was happening, Evan cleverly unhooked her bra through her shirt, drawing a small squeak of surprise from her mouth. "Hey!"
"That can't be comfortable to sleep in," Evan kept his face serious for a moment before leaning next to her ear and whispering in a seductive voice. "Maybe you should just take it off."
Rylee's face turned crimson, but then she surprised him by wiggling free of it, and tossing it off the bed, all while keeping her shirt in place. He was a bit embarrassed how quickly the action made him hard.
"Weren't you the one who said we needed to behave?" Rylee retorted, an equally flirtatious look in her eyes. "And yet here you are bringing me to bed with you and tempting me like this? Have you no shame?"
He answered by pulling her back toward him, rubbing a hand up her side, "And you're the one who agreed to share a hotel room with me. You, my dear, can be quite the vixen when you want to be. Who knew there was a side like this hidden behind your shy exterior?"
She moaned. Blood rushed through his body, and they were back in the heat from the night before. This time, there was one less object separating them, and he could feel her breasts against his chest through the thin clothing. Daringly, he let his hand drift higher, caressing the skin along her ribs, trailing up her curves.
"Don't tease," she whimpered, and gently bit him on the shoulder. "FanQuest is in two weeks. I won't be restricted then. And you did say... we will have a room."
His kind pieced everything together, and he pulled her in for a passionate kiss. "Two weeks," he agreed. He wasn't sure how he could keep himself composed with her so close to him. He already didn't like letting her leave. Now there was the idea of finally having her all to himself? He was never going to make it to any of his panels that way! "Don't blame me if you find it hard to stay awake the next day. I know you're there to work, but with all this torture, how am I ever going to let you leave my bed again?"
