บท 37: Her Favorite Guy

Rylee painted most of the day, stopping only to have lunch with Evan. In the end she finished two pictures, one of a wolf and the other of a tiger. Animals always came easier to her, so it was the natural choice when she needed to finish things in a hurry.

Tara was still out when Evan brought her back to the apartment. Bandit greeted them at the door and she grinned as she took him in her arms.

"How's my favorite guy? I missed you!" She praised, stroking his soft head. He soon pulled away, barking at the hook on the wall where his leash hung. She frowned, "Sorry buddy, I can't walk you today." She felt horrible when he whined again, wishing dogs could understand humans.

Evan put a hand on her shoulder, "Maybe I can take him? I don't mind, really."

Rylee hesitated. She loved her dog, but she was well aware what a spoiled brat he was. Even when she walked him, he would try to pull the leash if he felt they hadn't gone far enough. If he got out of the house on his own, he would race off like it was a game, leaving her yelling behind him. At the same time, she agreed to be Evan's girlfriend. Shouldn't she trust him with Bandit too?

"Just, be careful. If he wiggles out of the leash he can run, and if other dogs are out I don't want there to be a fight," she slowly retrieved Bandit's harness and put it on, taking care to make sure it was secure. Evan got the leash and attached it, kissing her once before turning toward the door.

"I would never let anything happen to him. He is your favorite guy after all," he winked. Then he stepped out onto the sidewalk.

It took less than ten minutes for him to regret going alone. Bandit was NOT cooperative on a leash. Evan was surprised such a small dog could be so headstrong. He tugged to get to the grass, he tried to roll on things, when Evan tried to turn one way, Bandit would lay down in protest and use his body to resist the pull. This out Evan in a difficult position. If he was too aggressive, Rylee would think he was being mean to the little guy. But if he wasn't authoritative, he was sure Bandit would take advantage of him to get whatever he wanted.

'I feel like I'm being blackmailed by dog,' he thought hopelessly. His phone rang and he pulled it out, Zane's voice quickly greeting him.

"I just got off, are you at Rylee's?"

"Yeah, I'm trying to walk her dog," Evan admitted. He could hear Zane laugh on the other end of the line.

"Trying? Does that mean you aren't succeeding?"

"He is...difficult. But we will work it out. Oh, guess what I found out today? You know that forum I'm on?"

"Yeah the one you post on all night? With your internet girlfriend? I wonder how Rylee would feel about her."

Evan grinned, "Considering Rylee IS that girl, I think she won't mind."

"WHAT?!!"

Bandit stopped pawing at the grass, tilting his head as if the phone call disturbed him. Evan gently tugged the leash and they started moving back toward the apartment.

"That's some freaky coincidence! Ah, my little star crossed lovers. I'm so proud."

"Shut up, you dork."

"Anyway, invite her over tomorrow for that game night okay? Catcha later."

"Later."

He hung up and barely moved his foot before Bandit peed on it. If Evan didn't know better, he would say that dog had a knowing smirk.
