Ador though heart broke, confided in her mom, Ita, but not the whole truth as Ita was conservative. In the Indian subcontinent, a woman is to be pure before marriage, one man-woman type. The institution of polyandry is a strict no. Ita tried to console Ador and said, " this incident was an eye opener for all. We are people from the hills, simple and straight forward, plus we do not know much about people from the plains and their behavioural pattern. Next time we will be extra cautious. Move on, my dear. It's not the end of the world"
Though it was difficult for Ador to take in this cold treatment, she tried to manage her heart. She went to Chennai for training for three months, far from heartache and pain.
Meanwhile Bali was furious. Dev was on the verge of bankruptcy, and Bali had no knowledge of it unless Adhi had told him. Dev had become a spendthrift. He was of the notion, once he became bankrupt, he would think of another business venture and tell Bali to clear his debt first.
Bali held a meeting with Bank officials and by God's grace Dev were saved from it. Otherwise another scandal would bring in a lot of turbulence in the social circle of Bali. He was now a respectable man, having a lot of government officials on his side. He could easily topple state government, if he felt like. But he treaded carefully in dangerous grounds. So he was respected for his wise decisions from friends and foes alike. A scandal caused would lead to a lot of kisses both in name and fame. He needed to chain his unruly son. He though Ador to be the serious type and thought she could tame Dev.
Bali gave a call to Ador on a fine morning ,oblivious of the Peerless Inn incident. When she received the phone, she was a bit panicky. The first words that Bali said was " Hello dear, Bali here. Dev's father. Hope you are presently alone. I need to talk to you matters which are very personal. " Ador thought that Bali would ask her about the hotel incident and replied with a mere "Hmm"
