บท 4: School
Luca stared outside the windows blankly as he listened to his teacher lecture the students about the world. Although he looked carefree, his ears were wide open and the information was flowing in like a flood. 'There's more information here then the book', he thought as he doodled on the desk, the teacher's passionate voice still resounding through the room.
"This world, Earth is our home planet, a peaceful environment where wars between fellow people occasionally happen, however 200 years ago, in 2112 a "gate" appeared in Afghanistan and monsters started pouring out. The monsters ranged from unidentifiable beasts to creatures from RPG games like orcs and goblins. To counter this the governments decided to team up together and destroy this gate. It took them a year until no monsters came out of the gate but the gate remained, they decided to organise a special team to enter the gate, and after a day they returned with looks of disbelief. "It was a whole new world" they all said, and after 30 days the gate closed and disappeared. BUT!" As soon as the teacher yelled this the dozing students woke up in a fright.
"The world- Earth was given a new gift, certain individuals started awakening their powers, some had the standard telekinesis, or creating fire and some had rarer ones like controlling time! The powers started appear on people of all ages first, but as the numbers of gates increased the 'gifted' ages started to decrease. The youngest to have a gift is 1 and the general age to have an awakening is between 12-18, however some may have late awakenings, or early ones, even a second awakening is possible, since anything is possible in the 'Gifted Era'!"The seemingly passionate speech left no deep impressions in the students whatsoever as the all had a bored look on their faces. Seeing this the teacher sighed and continued,
"You all are part of the Hope class, where your parents are gifted themselves or you have the aptitude to be gifted. The chances of you getting an awakening if your parents or grandparents are one is high, but don't let this confidence confuse you, since who knows if you happen to be the odd one out of you family" (She briefly glanced at me) "Now after your awakening you will join other 'gifted' and will learn at 'EINS', the biggest school for the 'gifted'. Today's lecture is done, I want you to copy the definitions down from the board and write and essay about what you think the most powerful power is, also add some colours, I don't want any bland works", The teacher smiled and sat down at her table. The girls eyes sparkled when hearing the teacher's comment and giggled as they pulled their pencil cases out, pouring down different types of coloured pens and highlighters.
Luca quickly broke out of his daze and took out his note book, he copied down the definitions,
"Gift: The power that a person receives when the are awakened"
"Awakened: When the power manifests in a person"
"Gifted: Someone who possesses a gift"
After a moment of thought he decided to add some fun facts,
"1 in 2000 people are gifted", "Oldest person to be gifted is 100", then proceeded to write down the strongest ability. 'Time travel', He chose this because he himself could be counted as a time traveller and felt that it was a good ability all together. After finishing his school work he pulled out another notebook from his bag. The book looked similar to other ones but it couldn't be opened normally. He mumbled something and it clicked open. It was the power of Runes. When the Gifted started using their powers, muggl- humans found out about runes, this was due to the runes in ancient abandoned cities activating. Runes became a popular thing for research and Luca himself self-learnt it. Now after opening the book, he turned to the second page that was written in bold letters. 'Lucius's Gift'.
