บท 15: Wingardium Leviosa
Dean put the wand back into the box for now and turned his attention to the big box. From the way he saw it, the real gift was inside this big box. He carefully opened the box and revealed the beautiful and shining broomstick. His father took him to few Quidditch matches with him and he never saw any broomstick's resembling the one he was looking at. He couldn't take his eyes off of it.
"This looks amazing, thank you very much. I never saw a model like this before, is it a new product?" He loved it so much that he can't stop touching it.
"Yes, it is indeed a new product, the Nimbus 2000. Actually, it's not even released to the public yet, there will be a year or two before it is released. I had to pull some strings to get this in my hands." Joseph was proud of the gift he selected for him. It was indeed really good, so he didn't forget to get an extra one for himself as well.
"Don't forget that if I didn't intervene, you would have given the old broomstick you used in your school days." Helen didn't wanna be left without receiving any credit for her work either. It was mostly her idea to get it as a gift, since Joseph wasn't really good at selecting gifts.
"Yes, I would have. I got my fathers broom in my early years as well. It is just the continuation of the legend from father to son, what's wrong with it? But, I can't deny the fact that broom companies lately been producing better products more and more. It is just not how it used to be." today Joseph kept reminiscing the past, first with the wand and now with the broomstick. He missed the old days where he could do anything as he wished. Now he had to first thing about his family before he could do anything, not that he minded. He quite enjoyed this style of life too.
"Thank you for the gifts. I really like both of them. I'm really lucky to have parents as amazing as you are. I love you both so much." He gave a hug to his parents. He really loved them, he was glad that he was born in this family.
Both the wand and the broomstick signified the changes to come to his life. As he is getting older, his life was becoming more and more active.
"You will be learning flying and defence against the dark arts from me, charms from your mother and transfiguration from your aunt. As for potions, your mother suggested that we send you to Lovegood family from time to time and let you learn from Pandora. Since you did get along with her daughter as well, it shouldn't be a problem. Daphne can go with you too, if she wants of course." After a family hug, Joseph explained how his magic training will progress.
"Everyone has their good and bad points. This way you can get to learn from the best ones in each subject. At least this is the best we can provide for the time being." Helen supported her husband's decision. As for the reason she wanted to send him to learn from Pandora was so he could make friends with Luna. Aside from his family, Dean didn't really have any real friends, so she was a bit concerned and wanted to assist him in getting new friends. Even though Pandora was not the best teacher, at least she was good at potions and had a cute daughter as a possible friend for Dean.
Dean didn't have any problem with the arrangements his parents made. Actually, he was ready to learn even if he had to learn by himself. Getting to learn from someone knowledgeable was always a plus. He just wanted to start immediately.
"I know very well that you will not be satisfied unless you learn your first spell. So go on and pick up your wand." Helen urged him to get his wand.
"Alright, the first spell I will be teaching is a charm, which is used to levitate objects. Even though the levitation spell is one of the first spells a wizard or witch learns, it is quite useful. But it also requires the caster to have excellent wand control and above all, patience. So give your full attention, point your wand to an object and repeat the wand movement with an incantation." She selected this charm as his first spell since it requires great control over the casters magic and wand. Most people would fail at it at first and she wanted to use this opportunity to teach him that when it comes to the magic he needs to be patient enough to learn from his mistakes and keep repeating until he succeeds.
